Making the sczarni have a larger role in RotRL

Rise of the Runelords

It seems there is a lot of background in this AP for the sczarni, yet they have no major role in the main questline. Has anyone had them play a larger role, or sidequests? I am goong to be gm ing rotrl, and I thought I might have some interactions with them.

My initial thought is to have Jubrayl Vhiski make a play for the Pixie's Kitten. The PC's seem like a capable team to Jubrayl, who contacts the party's rogue and invites them to a secret meeting with Jubrayl and Titus Scarnetti, where they try to involve the pcs in blackmailing Kaye Tesareni and sheriff hemlock. Titus's interest is an agreement that Jubrayl will stop the practice having male talent at the kitten, since Jubrayl has planted evidence leading him to believe that one of his duaghters had been secretly visiting the establishment. Also he will serve the boy she had supposedly been seeing up to Titus for revenge.

The PCs could help with the plot for a hefty bag of coins, or side with the sheriff and foil the plot.

In my game the Sczarni (and Scarnetti) were implicated in aiding the giants in making a more efficient attack on the town in book 4. The Sczarni were eventually found out and Scarnetti was heavily suspected.

Scarnetti was effectively exiled from the town and their business ventures went very down hill from then on.

The swashbuckler in the PCs party has a local back story. She and her sister were orphaned in Magnamar at an early age and Jubrayl caught them trying to pick his pockets. He took them in and was teaching her to fence and her sister to crack safes. They took her sister on a job in Magnamar (to rob none other than Justice Ironbriar), and she was caught and imprisoned. The PC blamed Jubrayl for her sister's imprisonment and has severed ties with the sczarni.

I am going to have Jubrayl lie and say that he can help release her sister if they assist in the blackmail plot. Or make things harder for her sister if they refuse. The sczarni have a large presence in the prison after all.

Two of my players have antagonized Jubrayl right from the start. He has been sending thugs after them and will be sending some more, as he thinks them nosy and meddling with his affairs. He wants to get rid of them. I still have to see where this goes, but I am planning on adding an extra location in The skinsaw murders (a safe house) where they can hunt him down.
