A Request For a Longer Grace Period for Dream Council

The Dream Council spell states that all targets of the spell either immediately fall asleep or don't participate in the Dream Council. How long is that grace period supposed to be? I agree that a participant who got caught in the middle of a battle should forgo sleeping and have to pass on that particular Dream Council, but what if they're traveling on horseback? Do they have enough time to call for a stop and dismount? Is their participation supposed to be dependent on an admittedly hilarious sudden fall off of their horse?

The casting time for the spell is 10 minutes. Does anyone else think that that 10 minute period should be the time in between a participant finding out they've been Sleep-Skyped and arranging to be able to actually participate?


Hmm, the terminology is a bit confusing, but I do believe you take the 10 mins to finish, then everyone it targets needs to choose if they want to participate right away, so no grace period in between to get off you horse and go grab a pillow. {That being said, as long has you have the proper saddle, you would not fall off the horse. If I am remembering my History correctly, horse-back messengers would take naps on top of there horses during long travel, as long as the road was clear and the horse knew the route. Unlike our horse power today, there horse power could drive itself.)

Which can be a little bit of a downer, in terms of use. I believe the caster is suppose to try casting when they think the targets do not have a pressing matter, making it a bit tricky. For example, just after dinner when the targets are more likely getting ready for bed.

For a home game though, I don't think there is any problem with giving a 10min grace period, matches up with how long it takes to cast.

And I guess falling off you horse would be the Dream Council equivalent of dropping the call.
