Online Campaigns General Discussion

If this whole Online Campaigns forum is just about play-by-post, I wish it was called "Online Campaigns for Play-by-post", instead of "Online Campaigns".

There are so many types of online campaigns.

Can someone clarify for me if this is just a play-by-post forum?

RPG Superstar 2014 Top 16, RPG Superstar 2012 Top 16

I don't think it's technically just for PBP, but that's where the bulk of the interest is from those who use it, I think.

Largely, yes. If you're specifically interested in Pathfinder Society or Starfinder Society there are also games run via VTT (virtual table-top) that use programs such as Roll20, Skype, Google Hangouts, and Discord. While I'm certain there are also general/homebrew games for Pathfinder ran via those same programs, I'm not entirely certain if there's any sort of dedicated 'hub' for finding or forming groups for them.

I occasionally see recruitments for VTT games in the Recruitment subforum here, and there's nothing prohibiting discussion of other online play venues in this one. However, the Play-by-Post and the Play-by-Post Discussion subfora are specifically for playing PbP games.

Out of curiosity, why did you think this subforum was only about PbP? Did someone try to discuss playing in other venues and get flagged?

As if on cue, one of the current recruitment posts is for a Rise of the Runelords game played on Roll20/Discord. So it does happen.

Should be Return however until a mod changes it, c'est la vie.

But yeah, I searched high and low for an the answer to this very topic. Sadly I found no definitive answer, so went ahead and posted a recruitment.

Due to the nature of how quickly virtual tabletop (VTT) games can be run a normal scenario is usually over in the same time as it would be at a local store, as such it tends to be more useful to advertise the games on Warhorn or the PFS/SFS Organised Play Online discord server (where we have dedicated channels specifically for both pick up games and ones organised ahead of time).

You can find a lot of us VTT players on the discord which is here.

There are occasionally Adventure Paths offered on Roll20 or Fantasy Grounds that people recruit for but that is definitely an aspect that PbP does more often I feel since organising a group of players to all turn up at the same time, live each week for an entire AP can be... daunting, as we all know I'm sure!

Good luck finding what you're looking for and I hope to see you on discord maybe, I'm Stunt Monkey on there :)

im actually looking for more of a play online via maptools and mics type of situation, but its hard finding that.
