Is the Asavir Prestige Class worth it?

Advice

Asavir

I’m thinking of building one for the next game I play in, with a Genie-Touched Companion, but I was wondering if it was worth it, considering I could instead choose Mammoth Rider.

Probably not, cavalier into mammoth rider would probably be significantly better.

Depends on the game; mammoths don't fit anywhere indoors. The asavir is cool, it provides a lot of utility benefits but probably is still not going to get much benefit indoors; the mammoth has huge numbers and kills things without dying.

Mammoth rider doesn't have to pick a mammoth, and there is an animal companion archetype that will allow a huge animal companion to fit comfortably in a 5foot by 5 foot square and can squeeze into a like 1foot by 1 foot square if you feel like you wouldn't be able to take it some places.

since the feat say " This animal companion functions as a horse companion"
it kind of takes out mammoths and such companions. (i believe the breeds mentioned later on in the feat specifically call out genie horse breeds as well)

Good thing horse is on the mammoth rider companion list... just because its called mammoth rider doesn't mean it only deals with mammoths.

A mammoth rider can choose from among the following animal companions to serve as her loyal steed: amargasaurusB6, arsinoitherium, aurochs, baluchitheriumB3, brontotherium, camel, cat (big), deinotherium, dire polar bear, elasmotherium, elk, horse, kentrosaurus, mastodon, megaloceros, moa, rhinoceros, styracosaurusB4, triceratops, uintatheriumB5, wolf, woolly mammoth (use the statistics for a mastodon), or woolly rhinoceros. A GM might expand this list to include other possible steeds. This steed functions as a druid’s animal companion, replacing any animal companion or mount gained from another class.

yea, i know.
i was just pointing out that it won't have the above mentioned problem of huge creatures fitting in.

No matter the animal the Mammoth Rider makes it Huge, whether it's an actual mammoth, a wolf, a bear or a horse.
And that change is not optional, for once.

Asavir is flavorful, Mammoth Rider might be better going by the numbers alone - straightforwardness has its ups. But, Hugeness is a big limiting factor, as mentioned.

This solves pretty much every issue with huge size
