We met Weird Al Yankovic at Medieval Times in L.A. a couple of decades ago, and he was really nice. He and my wife hit it off quite well, and he signed her hat. Then some idiot yelled, "OMG! It's Weird Al!" and he was forced to flee the premises thanks to the ensuing mayhem. Really made me feel bad for him.
Others were all pretty much standard "meet the public" events that don't really count (signings, etc.)
Except Chris Bowes of Alestorm. He spotted teensy little Impus Major (my 5'2", 110-pound, 17-year-old son) in his gnome costume and announced, "Well, why am I not surprised that there's a f*****g guy in a f*****g gnome costume at our concert! It just goes to show that this is going to be a silly night!"
So at the post-concert meet-n-greet he spent some extra time talking to Impus Major, and declaring him "best-dressed in show".

Ignoring famous people I met at conventions, I do recall my dad taking me to his workplace a few times, where we passed David Brinkley in the hall and met Willard Scott. At his previous workplace we met Bob McAllister (are any of you old enough to remember who he was?).

I had just boarded a flight from Orlando FL to Manchester NH, with a stop in Baltimore. I was in the aisle seat, and the window and center seats were empty. Two men, one mucb older than the other, took the other seats. Other passengers leaned over me and the younger man in the center to ask the older man in the window seat for his autograph. Finally I turned to the man next to me and said, "If I tell my wife that someone on this plane was signing autographs and I don't know who it was, I'll be in trouble."
The man in the window seat extended his hand to me and said, "Hi. My name's Cal."
Finally recognizing him, I gasped, "Ripkin!"
It was fun telling the next guy in that seat who was sitting there just before him.

The very same. ;)

Do Nelson Mandela & the Dalai Lama count? ;p
They were both incredibly gracious - really made one feel at ease while sitting with them.
(Note: I was part of the hospitality committee at the university I attended and to which they both visited on separate occasions.)
Mr Mandela was also incredibly tall (to me), & had an understated but mischievous sense of humor.
The Dalai Lama was an attentive listener (he never once interrupted when another spoke) with a subtle but profound dry wit (when he did speak).
I rather liked their sense of humor!
While there are a few others, I think these two are the ones who really stand out for me.
Carry on!

I keep remembering others. That's how important celebrities are to me; I forget them.
I've met Larry Elmore and Ed Greenwood. Just remembered those.
I ran lights for country singers Marty Stuart and Earl Thomas Conley (the latter of whom tried to get my wife to go to his bus with him) and country group Diamond Rio (who were complete jerks).
I'll probably remember more as time goes on.

Arrrgghhh you met Mercedes Lackey! I'm jealous! I love the books she wrote. How's it like meeting her in person?

Met Willie Nelson I was a cashier at Walmart he bought some things with a check. Was coming through on his way to a concert close by.
Met George Lucas in line at a coffee place like star bucks but it wasn't star bucks. It was during a con.
met lour feregno at the same con. He has hearing problems I think. I have a baser voice and he kept having to ask me to repeat myself. Otherwise Super nice guy and his wife is gorgeous (I think it was his wife anyways).
Oh and I met Margaret Weis once a long time ago.
Oh and a very brief encounter with the guy who played the highlander on the TV show.

I'm friends with one of the guys who did Project Rungay (the blog about the show Project Runway), although we don't talk as often as we used to.
That's it for me outside of convention settings.
In her college days my wife, however, was waiting in the lost luggage area in an airport with Julia Child. They started talking, and my wife didn't let on that she recognized her as a celebrity. The conversation started as usual airport griping but transitioned into just pleasant conversation. Then somebody who recognized her came over and started gushing, and my wife tells me that Julia Child was polite and pleasant but not very interested in talking after that.

When I was a kid, I happened to get seated next to TV weatherman Willard Scott on an airplane. He was very nice.
I chatted with George Takei for a good half-hour at a small Star Trek convention back in 1987. He was great!
Back in '92, I was waiting for a table at a restaurant that didn't take reservations. Carl Sagan and his wife stroll in and ask for a table. The hostess tells them it will be 45 minutes, and Sagan says, "Do you know who I am?" When the hostess says, "no," Sagan demands to speak with the manager. The manager profusely apologies and tells them to wait a moment, and the two are seated within 90 seconds. While they were waiting, I muttered, "I guess you can always get table if you're rich and famous." Sagan heard me and gave me a sh!t-eating smirk as he went with the manager to his table.
I once was at a dinner party with John Sununu (the former governor of New Hampshire, and former chief of staff of George W. Bush). My aunt and uncle were local organizers in the New Hampshire GOP, and personal friends of Sununu. I didn't like his policies, but he seemed like a decent guy at the time.
And I played in a session of Unspeakable Futures run by James Jacobs at PaizoCon 2018! James is an excellent GM.

Hmm, well I met Rob Zombie and got my Sinister Urge CD autographed.
I've also met the country band Confederate Railroad and got all my CR CDs autographed.
Wish I could say I've met more famous people, though someday I'll meet one of the original Suicide Girls. Which will be more awesome than either of the above combined. Haha.

I met a couple at a con.
I had panties on my head at the time, as I was at work.
One offered to wear them for me until I ended my shift.
As I was representing my company I had to turn her down.
Still, they were nice.
