I'd like to see the Skills chapter at least double in size.

Requests for the Skills chapter in the final version:

1) Please move all the actual Skill Feats into the Skills chapter, next to the skills themselves.

2) Please provide proficiency-gated uses of as many skills as possible, from Untrained all the way up through Legendary.

3) Please give at least 2-3 Skill Feats for each level of proficiency for each skill.

Proficiency gating is really the raison d'etre of the entire proficiency system as it applies to skills; it's the only real justification for the small size of the proficiency bonuses as compared to the level component of skills modifiers. I also happen to really like the potential development space. So please, please take advantage of it!

1 and 3 I very much agree on, though moving them away from the general feats would highlight just how few of those there are...
I'm fine with trained being the gate to most of the uses of a skill, then feats can pick up the more specalised versions of those uses.

Ya. I also really want to see more stuff like Arcane Sense, Intimidating Glare, Battle Cry, and so on. Those feats will be used often and are impactful.

I do think they should not just add more feats but, instead, more broadly useful feats. Situational stuff like feats focused on swimming, climbing and jumping should likely be combined somewhat.

Would you be fine gating stuff like critical success behind higher level proficiencies for certain uses of a skill? Because I think that would be a good path to take, as I find it strange that proficiency doesn't really matter for most things, beyond that +1-3, and think it could be a good way of keeping skills from being too much about proficiency, but making proficiencies beyond trained still matter, even if you don't have feats for them.

I'm not sure about locking critical success behind Expert +. However, I would be happy to see most skill tasks get expanded effects on both success and critical success when used by an Expert, Master or Legend.

Or maybe they bring back Take 10 and make that the Expert benefit, while Master and Legend are what get the expanded success results. That would be even better <3

Seems like a good idea to me. bake the Assurance Feat into proficiency rank. i.e.:

  • Untrained has a penalty and has to roll
  • Trained has to roll
  • Expert can take 10
  • Master can take 15
  • Legendary can take 20

If that's too good than you can only allow the assurance benefit for checks below that proficiency rank, e.g. Master could take 15 on untrained, trained and expert difficulty checks, but had to roll on master level checks as normal.

Those numbers are worse than what Assurance gives right now (and the numbers Assurance gives right now already can't beat Trivial DCs).
