Channel Positive / Negative energy

Just looking for clarification how this works . Let's say I am channeling negative energy and I'm 7th level, how much damage would it deal to a living creature? Thanks all.

7d8+WIS and the (ranged) touch would gain the Attack trait (subject to and contributing to your multi attack penalty).

If you did a boomf aoe version (SVM casting), however, the damage would be 3d8+WIS


Ohh thank you. Much better vs single target hmm.

So if I missed with the ranged touch attack I would lose 1 channel?

Given the way other touch attack spells work (and poisons) yes. "Holding a charge" is no longer a thing.

As for "better," the numbers work out to breaking even (on the order of < 0.5 damage on average) if you can get 2 people in the aoe and "more efficient than multiple casts" if you hit 3.

damage for harm to a living target at lv7 is 4d8+wisdom. and AoE is 3d8+wisdom. The +2d8 is only for the healing version of harm to undead. Damage is only 1d8 increase a spell level.
Draco18s is correct that offensive use causes it to gain the attack trait.
