Let's see if I can remember the GM IRS rules based from this prior post:

Value of cloak is 1000gp
You can sell to a retailer for 950
You can purchase from retailer for 1100 (includes tax)

So 95% (merchants need to make profit!=5%) value to sell and item and 110% of cost to buy (government needs to eat!=10%).

MW armor is not +1 to AC just reduces armor check penalty by 1.

Mithril: the maximum Dexterity bonuses are increased by 2, and armor check penalties are decreased by 3 (to a minimum of 0). Chain shirt is already light so mithril does not reduce its rating any further. No bonus to AC besides giving you more DEX bonus.

Mage armor wand is expensive and useless as it is only +4 armor and doesn't stack with your actual armor. I think you need UMD (use magic device) to use a wand as a rogue.

I think my former DMs have been playing a much looser game . . . I can confidently say that I didn't understand what an armor check penalty was until just now. I think Pnin should be dead by now :-( Sorry.

DM, can you confirm that this check penalty would apply anytime I'm using my Dex? Would this include my bow damage, since that is now dex based?

Anyway, thank you Kiryl for the answers! But, if you don't mind me asking, can you check this work? I think the Mithril still provides a bonus to armor check.

Chain shirt starts out at: +4 AC, +4 Max Dex, -2 Armor Check

Masterwork would be: +4 AC, +4 Max Dex, -1 Armor Check

Mithril Masterwork would be +4 AC, +6 Max Dex, -0 Armor Check.

So it still removes that last, pesky -1, right?

What does the "magical" enhancement do?


Armor check penalty only applies to Skills, mostly Dex or Str based ones.

You want mithril so you can keep increasing your Dex and getting benefit of it for AC.

Magical enhancement increases the AC, +1 armor is additional +1 AC, +2 armor is +2 AC and so on up to +5.


Let me know what you are purchasing, we can bypass the role playing so you can get on to Thornkeep as soon as possible.

Pnin/Curral if you can update your character sheet so your key stats show up every time you post that would be helpful to me. Look at Kiryl's set up to get an idea.

Yeah, I figured we'd bypass the roleplaying. Put me down for some of that magical mithril chain shirt armor. I am down to 0 gp. Let me know whether it is a bad idea to go broke?

For instance, once I purchase this, is it just a surcharge to upgrade the magical enhancement level?

As for the character sheet, I blame Clint. I copied mine off of his. Fixed now.

Does part of my debt owing reduce from recent treasure/magical item gains i would have received had i not owed? Barring any healing abilities....sanrael will need 6 days to heal back to normal hit points

Paizo is wonky for me right now also. Sure it will settle down. Barely got my lame perception check in. Use Sanrael perception if it is better.

Just optimizing the skills where my bonuses helped the most. I always think that Climb should have a Dex component. I guess I could parkour up the wall.

It's not a standard racial trait either. . .

Question about Mage Armor?

Is there a way for Idril to know when and if the spell runs out?


1 hour per caster level so 3 hours

time is a bit difficult in an online campaign like this where it can takes weeks of real time to play out a day in game time

the spell will last until you finish this battle

Is there a way you can help me with this. Idril will die if her mage armor disappears. Three hours is not much time. I will try to monitor this better. Sucks having to cast this spell twice but necessary to live.

Is there any armor a Sorcerer can use?


You can get a wand of Mage Armor.

You can also use armor but this will cause a chance of spell failure.
Arcane Armor training feat can help reduce spell failure chance while wearing armor.

You should also stay in the back and try to avoid combat.

You can buy magic bracers but that is very pricey way to get equivalent of mage armor.

What is the difference between a Pearl of Power and RuneStone? Seems the same.


Pearl of Power: This seemingly normal pearl of average size and luster is a potent aid to all spellcasters who prepare spells (clerics, druids, rangers, paladins, and wizards). Once per day on command, a pearl of power enables the possessor to recall any one spell that she had prepared and then cast that day. The spell is then prepared again, just as if it had not been cast. The spell must be of a particular level, depending on the pearl.

Runestone of power: Once per day, a spontaneous caster (bards, inquisitors, oracles, sorcerers, and summoners) can draw upon a runestone of power to cast a spell—doing so is part of the spellcasting action, and expends that runestone’s power for the day rather than one of the spellcaster’s actual spell slots for the day. An expended runestone of power recharges its capacity after 24 hours. The spell must be of a particular level, depending on the runestone.

Believe Kiryl is the only one that can use the POP. Curral or Idril could use the Runestone.
