Yeah, this situation is FUBAR.
My weapon is +1 magical, but I have to assume their DR is very high.
Anyway, Pnin the character is not aware of the metagame and is/was pretty sure there was no shot without the paladin. No pun intended.

Kael is ready to push on. He won't be RPing with Gorloth any time soon as he is still coming to grips with his failure and experience with near shadowy death.
I believe the next stop is the blue portal with the blue token. Kael won't hold a token again knowing that it almost doomed his companions the last time.
To the portal! (unless Sanrael wants to keep dickering with Gorloth and bring on his own shadowy fate....)

very happy thanksgiving....well what i can have here....i took the day off and went to a dive restaurant and had a hot turkey sandwich!!

Quick treasure recap; I currently have written down:
4071 GP
wand of shield (12 charges)
wand of magic missile (8 charges)
wand of comprehend language (10 charges)
+2 ring of protection
MW dagger
2 Book of spells
Unidentified wand
My cousin's gold ring (no determined value or magical properties)
small black box which has a white skull with a silver crown on it
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
No issues here with treasure or its distribution...good to do as parties consensus sees fit
Kael Cullen |
Recommend Ring of Protection +2 to Sanrael (his AC is weak for front liner). Sell his +1 ring.
Wands to Curral and/or Pnin. ID the last wand.
Any value to 2 books of spells?
I'd like to keep my cousin's ring in party hold until we see if I can return it to him or not.
Sell the MW dagger?

Updated treasure list:
4071 GP
wand of shield (12 charges)
wand of magic missile (8 charges)
wand of comprehend language (10 charges)
+1 ring of protection
MW dagger
+2 CON belt
2 Book of spells
Unidentified wand
My cousin's gold ring (no determined value or magical properties)
Curral should take the wands and put them on his PC sheet unless he thinks it better to sell them. He should also ID the random wand and the spellbooks (value?)
Pnin should probably take the +2CON belt. He ends up in front of a lot of damage and the extra HP will give him more staying power.
Once that's all settled and we get back to Riverwatch we can portion out the GP.
Kael Cullen |
I think the shield wand is probably the most valuable.
+4 to AC (including vs. incorpreal; let's go get those shadows!) for the melee guys? Yes please! Plus negates MM and lasts 10 rounds.
Super nice pre-melee buff.
Please hold onto all 3 Curral.
Updated loot list
4071 GP
+1 ring of protection
MW dagger
2 Book of spells
Unidentified wand
My cousin's gold ring (no determined value or magical properties)
Darkvision: Can you please hand wave the value of the spell books and tell us what the wand is? We should send my cousin's ring back to his father.
Maybe the Goldenfire Order would pay good money for the SB?
Kael Cullen |
Curral, please record on your PC sheet:
wand of shield (12 charges)
wand of magic missile (8 charges)
wand of comprehend language (10 charges)
wand of endure elements (18 charges)
Each PC receives 1,781 GP

Welcome to level 5.
Are you selling the spell books? What is everyone’s share of the treasure Kael? Let me know if anyone is making purchases.
My plan was to hold the spellbooks till we get to Thornkeep and see if the Goldenfire Order has a better price. If you tell me it's 1,000 GP regardless we'll sell them in Riverwatch.
As noted above, each PC receives 1,781 GP (not including any spellbook money). Kael is not making any purchases with his 1,801 total GP.
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
no purchases
but i am givinng back the +1 ring of protection and taking the +2 to improve AC by 1...if we are still going by earlier message

That transaction already valued in the GP distribution

Hey, sorry I had a busy weekend and neglected this page. So I still need to update Pnin.
In the meantime, I am thinking of switching to the DEX belt as mentioned above. To me, that seems to be more of a benefit than CON overall. Any thoughts from you more experienced players are most welcome!

Rule of thumb is definitely to boost your primary stat first and often. You use DEX a ton and an extra 5% per use is pretty sweet

^^This was a post from Saturday, Sanrael. No worries, I almost missed it too!

Sanrael had a 1st level spell at 4th level due to his 13 WIS; he now has two 1st level spells.
Given your tactical approach I'd pick:
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/e/entangle
https://www.d20pfsrd.com/magic/all-spells/l/lead-blades
Favorite enemy I would go +4 human, +2 undead.
Kael Cullen |
So Party People, does this mean we need to go back to the Spire and kill Gorloth anyways. I'm for that!
Options I see:
1. Back to Spire and Gorloth.
2. Sweep the woods for undead.
3. Sweep the woods for Hellknights.
4. Take a more direct approach in dealing with Inevitable.
5. Some other awesome option not listed above.
Kael's comments aside, his sense of law and order would lead him to try and help (or at least not hinder) the Hellknights until such time that a better leadership option should arise. Yes, the Hellknights are evil slave-driving bastards, but they do offer a level of stability and order that would help to protect the average citizen under their authority.
I don't see Kael being in favor of any scenario that ends with the HK being deposed and things getting worse for John Q. Public.
What say ye?
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
I tend to agree....leave hellknights as it is until a later time....im in favor of working our way back sweeping undead....and working back towards spire...theres still a mystery there to be solved...
Pnin |
Pnin would like to eat the rich hellknights.
Long post . . . TL;DR = errands around Thornkeep and fighting undead.
Serious answers with RP elements: Pnin would like to do some good in the world. He doesn't imagine living through the Fort Inevitable revolution. But he sees the poetry in ending it all where it began with a glimmer of hope.
In his heart of hearts, he knows he can do more good alive and that delaying the revolution until it could be successful. He cares more about the nameless slaves who don't get chosen for a suicide mission than John Q Public. But I guess he cares about them too.
Long story short, Pnin would agree to leave Inevitable alone if his arrows were pointed at other evils.
Regarding Gorloth, Pnin is reticent to go back immediately. He feels dirty from that place and would feel dirtier trying to fight Gorloth immediately after besmirching his own honor for Gorloth's benefit.
So I think we need to do errands around Thornkeep and/or go clearing out the undead. If fighting undead we should also make sure they are still coming from the Spire. (I bet they are . . .)
If we do, is there a way to buy blunt arrows? Any DM issues?
Sanrael Bloodthorn |
agreed....i think once weve gained levels...if we survive...we will be in a better position to exact revenge on our slavers....until then....work around countryside clearing out the threat as much as possible...slowly working our way back to the spire...and harrasing the hell knights and the interest of ineviatble to our profit and gain.....and one never knows what opportunities arise
