Re-statting / Re-building characters and enemies (spoilers)


Hell's Rebels


From perusing these boards I have seen a few instances of where people have rebuilt certain NPCs or enemies for a variety of reasons. I believe one of the main ones was an observation that every NPC seemed to be a rogue or have rogue levels

This appears to have even included the big bad. I was hoping to create a threat where these could be centralised and also added to. I will look for links to add when on my actual computer and not phone

Ones I can remember:

Barzillai :

- Occultist
- Antipaladin

Book 3 Skinsaw cultist :

- Sanctified Slayer Inquisitor

Azvernathi Raul:

- Warpriest

Varl Wex:

- Vigilante (this was a thread I am sure)

Luculla :

- Mesmerist

Hellknight Armigers

- there has since been a Hellknight armiger fighter archetype

My thoughts for changes:

Hetamon:

Perhaps a Zealot Vigilante to have the secret identity?

(That is all that immediately comes to mind. I am sure I had others but they have escaped me)

Has anyone done any others / can think of any others ?

I've tweaked a few things:

1. I made the Red Jills (and most Kintargo tieflings) devilspawn tieflings (from Blood of Fiends;

2. I changed the Jollytime Girls from the Encounter Table of Turn of the Torrent to urban barbarians;

3. I'm in the process of adapting the Bounty Hunters from that same table to slayers with the bounty hunter archetype.

4. I've 'leveled up' the Chelish Citizens Group and dottari a bit; my PCs may soon encounter foes called 'CCG Torchbearers' and 'dottari constables' (cavaliers with the constable archetype).

I'm considering working him up with the cardinal archetype: He doesn't seem like a martial character and could use the extra skill points to flesh out some of the flaws/ommissions others have noted.

I am going to change Varl Wex. I have NPC classes on villains as they wreck the CR. He also has no shot of challenging a group. Whilst I get it is mainly about the investigation I still don't like it

Someone mentioned Occultist I believe (but perhaps not for him).
So I am currently thinking Battle Host/Unchained Rogue with a focus from the Kukri. If I have at least 5 levels I can call a spiritual ally to help me flank and get sneak attack. At least 3 levels of rogue plus accomplished sneak attack gives 3d6 sneak which is only one less than written

The idea of Cardinal for Hetamon sounds interesting. Frustratingly I have a Level 5 Milani Cardinal already so that seems a bit unnecessary

But having all those extra skills really does make sense

I had lots of thoughts on Luculla and a strong case can be made for several classes or archetypes

There is :

Cult Leader Warpriest (which I am actually thinking of for the members instead of the horrid multiclass)

Inquisitor - seems to tie with her being on a mission

Mesmerist - as mentioned

Oracle - perhaps with flame curse to also explain her wearing gloves and adding some offensive threat. Also becomes a Charimsa character which seems to fit

I am actually probably going to stick with Cleric and change her spells to some of the better buffs. The thought of her using Blessing of Fervor on Elgadazum once he has teleported to her side makes me laugh evilly to myself...

I'm pretty sure the posting of stat blocks isn't allowed unless the poster also posts the entire OGL license.


There's a lot of stat blocks on this board when they're not from the book.
