Druid + Elemental Body + fire Seeds

Rules Questions

So my druid [13th level] casts fire seeds [holly berries] wildshapes into a fire elemental and blows them up while holding them.

Do we apply the Resist Fire 20 to each individual berry or do we apply it off the top.

In other words is it:
1d6+13-20 [eight times in row]

or

8d8+104-20?

Silver Crusade

Individual berry.

Each. Same thing if your druid leaves them as a trap for another creature with fire resistance and sets them all off at once. Devastating to a foe without fire resistance, but not nearly so much to one that has even moderate resistance.

Wouldn't that also mean that they would need 8 different Reflex saves for half? Seems like a lot of dice rolling for one effect.

I concur with each berry being a separate source of damage.

One thing to keep in mind with this tactic, is that a 5' raduis burst is 4 squares (including the one you are in if you are carrying them) so only 3 other creatures at most will be effected.

Yep. At least they're easy to roll and only happen once per spell under that circumstance.

If the Save only happens once per spell, then the damage should only happen once per spell. So if you are caught in all 8 blasts you should either roll 8 separate saves and resist 8 different damage rolls, or you should roll 1 save and resistance should only count once versus the total damage. Counting 8 different blasts for Fire Resistance, but then rolling only 1 save isn't consistent.

We agree--I just worded my post badly. You roll eight saving throws. The "once per spell" was referring to the fact that at least you only have to roll eight saving throws once (as opposed to, say, rolling eight saving throws every round or something).
