Wand for low level wizard (adhesive Spittle?)

Advice

Hey,
im not very happy about my level 2 conjuration wizard, because don't know what spells to prepare and cast very often just acid splash. Summon Monster 1/2 seems quite ineffective without augment summoning and I would like to have a more effective way to participate in the fights (the magus light-spellstriking for two attacks (does he really not provoce aoo's?) the s#~$ out of the enemy's, the Ranger does solid damage with rapid shot). So i want to get a wand to be able to to something every fight. Magic missile would do little damage without missing chance. Shield would be a good support, but it would be only effective once a fight. What about casting Adhesive Spittle on my familiar to not loosing an full round (cast +throwing are both standard actions). Unfortunately the spell doest say target: you, but it would make sense to use it via shared spells, wouldn't it? You guys have other good ideas?

I'd go for Grease. Sets up your allies by making the enemy flat-footed. Adhesive Spittle is trash because, at CL 1, it doesn't last long enough to actually be used

The magus does have to cast defensively if he casts a spell or be subject to an aoo just like anyone else.

As far as what you should do, you are in the worst time now you will ever be. One more level and your power jumps with 2nd level spells and it just keeps getting better, so hold on to that.

At this point, you are probably better off with a crossbow as your backup than with a wand. You don't have the resources to really buy much that is worth an action (the exception being, if it is allowed and available, a wand of mudball, waiting until the big bad goes, then blinding him and having him be blind for everyone else's turns is quite a benefit).

I intend to use it like: standard-action for casting it onto my familiar, which can throw it onto an enemy as his standard-action, no attack-roll is needed so his bad worse stats dont matter. Or do you think someone would veto this?

You can't cast Adhesive Spittle on your familiar (unless you want to entangle it), even more if you're using a wand (Share Spell only works with your spell slots).

I suggest you use your own spell slots to cast:
- Sleep
- Colour Spray
- Grease
- Murderous Command (if you're fighting against a big dumb fighter and a fragile caster)

Even just one successful cast of these can make you win the fight.

750gp is a lot of money for a 2nd level character, not to mention that wands cast spells at minimum CL (unless you pay more) and use minimum DC (this cannot be improved with money). So a wand with a 1st level offensive spell will have a DC of 11, which is terribly low. I suggest you save money for a Pearl of Power (1000gp) if you want to improve your casting potential.

If the fight is not worth wasting slots or you don't have useful spells left, there's no shame in using a crossbow, acid splash or your arcane school power (if any) to deal damage. At 2nd level, even a few hp of damage can make a difference. If casting acid splash, remember using a flask of acid as focus to increase the damage by 1.

Furthermore, if you have a decent Intimidate score (Bruising Intellect helps on this) you can always demoralise enemies to inflict them a -2 penalty on attacks, skills and saves (and your familiar can help too).
