Skulls & Shackles Character suggestions

Skull & Shackles

Hi,
I am looking to see what people think would fit, work well or excel in this campaign.
I am jumping in mid to late chapter four, and the party is currently five people and the campaign is seemingly very deadly.

What Classes and Races would people suggest?

Thanks.

As Profession(Sailor), Diplomacy, and Perception get a lot of use throughout the campaign, pick a character that has some skill points. You don't need a lot, but you do need some.

Adding character number 6 to a party should not limit you to any race or class. However, if your players are heavy melee and low caster, then adding a caster is indicated. Likewise a mix of divine and arcane casting. Someone should be a skill monkey, and that person can be the 'face' of the party for getting Fame. [I.e. have a high Diplomacy skill.] Having some ranges attacks is also good, so as long as that gets covered by the party, you should be good.

I had fun with my Ninja/Witch with Witch cohort. I have heard a Bard really spreads the combat love. [The cleric archetype Evangelist acts like a bard is a similar way.]

One thing to watch is the number of actions needed for a round of combat. If you have lots of summons or followers out, that can slow play down. So if you bring lots of actions with your character, be sure to do them quickly so as to not slow down play. Planning what the actions will be while you wait for your turn helps here.

If the campaign seems deadly with 5 (soon to be 6), then I suggest you look to your play style. Are you rushing into combat low on resources? Many combats in a day? Having casters in melee when not designed for it? Figure out what is setting you up for deadly danger, and try not to do that. Either that, or invest more in healing magic.
