Play-test Druid Feedback

Doomsday Dawn Player Feedback

My Group moved from 5e to run the Pathfinder play-test last night, we spent this reading the rules and creating characters.

I got to make up a Druid, though I'm to be DM in the campaign next week. We have been playing since primary school, I think I was around 12 when we start with the red box set back in the early 80's.

One thing I noticed was...

Durid, Right so I want an 18 in Wisdom.

Ok that means Dwarf could be optimal or maybe Halfling.

Why not Halfling, Wild Order Wild shape count is strength based.

Yes I know you have a free one you could use in Wisdom but lets keep in mind Im reading the the book and it says Wisdom Con and Dex are the Key and Secondaries.

Backgrounds...

Animal Whisperer (Very Duridic)
Wis Or Cha (Wis of Course)

Train Animal Feet (If you’re expert, master, or legendary in Nature, you might be able to train more exotic creatures, at the GM’s discretion. Bonus Synergy here.)

Animal Lore Skill (INT)

Ok so carrying on let take a look at the orders and Skills.

Orders
Animal.
Atheltics Trained + Sig (STR)
Animal Companion
Heal Animal (Power)

Leaf
Diplomacy Trained + Sig (CHA)
Leshy Fimilar
Goodberry (Power)

Storm
Acrobatics + Sig (DEX -Synergy, Secondary)
Storm Born
Tempest Surge. (Power)

Wild
Intimidation + Sig (CHA)
Wild Shape (STR Mod = Count pre Day)

Wild Empathy (All Orders)
You can use Diplomacy to Make an
Impression on animals and to make very simple Requests
of them. Diplomacy (Cha) <-Only trained if you are Leaf

Other Class Skills
Crafting (Int),
Nature (Wis Synergy),
Survival. (Wis Synergy),

So My issue is really with Wild Empathy it should be a Nature check, Animals don't give two rats backsides about Diplomacy "Please's" and "Thank You's" or which spoon you are supposed to use with which fork, or even how pretty you look, or forcefully you can speak (Cha). Animals care about kindness and food. Wild Empathy should be a Nature check.

There also appears to be an over dependence on non class Stats aka STR and CHA tied into their key abilities which would make the druid a little MAD. Wild Shape uses should be Tied into CON, it's a Secondary ability for the class. It also make more sense to me,I mean changing your shape would be tiring right?

Also If as per 'Wild Empathy' Animals are suppose to respond to 'Diplomacy' then shouldn't that be the skill granted with the Animal Order?

I'll see how my 8 Cha dwarf plays out next week.
