I noticed how the campaign prologue doesn't bother giving a single reason on why the hell the players should bother accepting the mission. This bugs the hell out of me. We as a group handwaived it to get the dice rolling, but is really immersion braking.
Doomsday Dawn assumes that the player characters have ties of some sort to Keleri Deverin ...I assumed that since the PCs are supposed to be friendly with Keleri, that they would want to help her recover the Star of Desna
Unless I am mistaken, only those with the Family Friend background are actuall friends of Keleri. The others are just adventurers with ties to various society with witch Keleri herself has ties.

Most of the Backgrounds tie in to the adventure, and all of the PCs are assumed to have ties back (likely through other PCs) to Keleri, enough to justify listening to her story. After that, adventurer PCs want to adventure, right? Help an important, beautiful woman (perhaps acquaintance) solve a crime perpetrated by a vampire hobgoblin (maybe against your own tribe)?
That should tickle several fancies.Osirionologist: Needs a connection.

Mindquake: Needs a connection.
Pathfinder: This is what they do.
