What are the rules for starting with magic items, such as level 4 bracers of armor? There is only the vaguest intimation that "While characters can use items of any level, Game Masters should keep in mind that allowing characters access to items far above their current level may imbalance the game," but this does not actually stop characters from using their starting sp from buying those bracers anyway.

It clearly stops them by the Game Master determining what characters are "allowed to access"...

That certainly does not help with a tightly-constricted playtest such as Doomsday Dawn, let alone Pathfinder Society.

The key to this is that starting money is in silver pieces rather than gold pieces. That starting 150 sp equates to 15 gp, which is not enough to pay for even level 1 bracers of armor.


Oh, I see now. I had missed that. So the question of whether or not to start with bracers of armor is moot.

It is a point of great confusion though, so I would suggest to the writers that they convert magic item prices to sp.
