Conserving fusion and automatic weapons

If I have the conserving fusion (Starfinder Armory 63) and I make an autofire attack with an automatic weapon, and hit all but one target, do I get to keep all of my ammunition for that attack?

Conserving says "When you miss with a ranged attack roll, your charge or ammunition is not consumed, as though the weapon had never been fired."

Seems to me if I miss even a single target, I qualify for the fusion's effect, which is "your charge or ammunition is not consumed, as though the weapon had never been fired."

Don't have armory, but it's mentioned on automatic fire that you expend 2 uses per creature in the automatic cone.

At a first glance I'd say you keep the shots from there particular miss.

Automatic fire expends all amunition in the weapon in exchange for making an attack against each creature in the first range increment of the weapon. You may make a maximum number of attacks equal to half of the current ammo in the weapon, but only one attack per target.

In other words, you only get ammo back if you miss every target.

You get ammo back for all the misses, but not the hits?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

*cough* This is why I house rule that Autofire does *not* automatically consume a full clip. It only consumes 2 shots per target in the burst ( including any "mandatory" targets due to positioning ).

how about it returns Ammo expended X number of targets missed/ number of potential targets

Any update or official ruling on this?

More likely depends on your GM's interpretation of the rule.
