Suggestions for 2E Bestiary Box

As a GM who has used pawns for literally dozens, if not hundreds of sessions, I wanted to say I love the pawn sets. I'd also like to offer some suggestions as to how you might improve the 2nd edition of the bestiary box.

  • First and foremost, please include more copies of common, low-level adversaries. We need a minimum of six (6) pawns for things like dire rates, goblins, orcs, skeletons, zombies, medium-sized spiders, etc. If you can squeeze in a few variants of the humanoids (archers, casters), all the better.

  • Please make sure we have a full complement of huge elementals. A huge fire elemental is much, much more important than, say, a giant slug.

  • Please put a colored stripe on the base that is easily seen from table-distance to easily differentiate multiples. Red-Blue-Green-Orange-Yellow-Purple could work, or you could go with black if orange/red is too close.

  • Please keep the name of the creature, but print the names in white on the aforementioned colored stripe. This way, the name would be hidden when the pawn is slotted into the base. Easy to see while sorting, but gives nothing away when in use.

  • Continue numbering the pawns, as well as identifying the set directly on the pawn. (To not do so is, quite simply, madness. =P)
Now, I do appreciate that more pawns means inserting even a few more sheets, which in turn means a higher cost. I have a few thoughts on that front. First, plan for $50. It really isn't that different from $45 from a psychological point of view. If that increase covers a few extra sheets, great. If it doesn't, a second thing to consider is making the medium size pawns a bit shorter as a way to squeeze in a extra row on each sheet without having to increase the sheet count (and the cost). Besides, the current medium pawns are a bit too tall anyway.
