I want to feel it out so that I can get a headstart on developing a campaign setting of my own.
I also am excited by the prospect of having any impact upon the final product. Even if it doesn't end up 'perfect'; I'm hoping it will give me a closer starting point to work from for my table at least.

Totally. I've been hanging around these boards a lot so I can sort of absorb ideas for my next setting which, depending on the vague direction in which my plans advance in, is liable to be based on the far future outcomes of my current campaign. PCs long since relegated to legendary figures.

I'm having trouble remembering with all this hype that it's only a playtest... and the actual core rulebook is another year of this drama away.

Getting the drama out of people's systems earlier so that it does not heavily pollute playtest feedback was a goal of the blog posts

I expect the drama to mostly die down or focus on relevant issues after people get heavily involved in playing the actual game

It's annoying because getting incomplete data, which nobody but the lucky few who get their books early can verify, will cause unnecessary drama on the boards, with people freaking out over stuff which could well be taken out of context or erroneously read. This is a bit bigger than just another adventure path module or minor rulebook as well, with a very big impact on how Paizo and Pathfinder will continue over the next decade.

I feel like we've been dealing with four months of unnecessary drama and people freaking out over stuff that's been taken out of context. I don't think 12 more days will make a difference in this regard.

I mean, I guess there's a possibility of creating a bias regarding the playtest materials, but I feel like most of the folks hanging around here have been letting their bias flags fly proudly for months now.

And it's annoying on a personal level because of course I want to get the books early as well. :p
This I agree with.

The difference is that the Devs have an extremely tight schedule these days and planned to react to blog posts, but not to leak threads :-(
