What is mithral anyway?

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

I always thought it was titanium, just given a fantasy name. Also is abysium supposed to be some radioactive element? I get that impression.

Mithril is a fantasy metal invented by Tolkien, Abysium is a magical metal from space. It's closer to poison than radiation, which is also in Pathfinder.

Think of it as a slightly magical version of silver (which it's treated as for the purpose of overcoming Damage Reduction - bad for werewolves).

The fossilized remains of discarded soda cans. What? That's what it was in the post-apocalyptic fantasy I played in back in college! My paladin had a suit of armor made from it!

Radiation is poison in Pathfinder. 9th level druids are immune to it. Saved me in Iron Gods, just stumbled happily in a room containing enough radioactivity to cause somewhere around 4d6 con drain each round.

4d6 con per round? Was the room made of plutonium or something?

It was apparently a result of a failed technology experiment by the Technic League. The room also contained a plasma ooze. Fortunately(?) some bad guys had let it loose to wander the hallways so we encountered it first.

Palace of Fallen Stars spoiler:
Fun thing was, that you could also enter the room from the top (there was a hole in the ceiling) completly unaware and land in the middle of a plasma ooze in high radiation zone. Enjoy your 8d6 damage and 4d6 Con drain each round while being engulfed in the ooze.
