Prosthetics: Can I replace just a hand or a foot?

According to RAW, you can only do a full limb replacement, occupying the following augmentation slots: "Arm and Hand" or "Leg and Foot." You can't currently replace just a hand or just a foot.

No spoilers, but there exists the possibility of an influx of Starfinder Society characters who are missing hands or feet. I might have one of them. Assuming some players aren't that enamored of cutting off the rest of their whole arm to get simple hand function back, would it be possible for Starfinder Society characters to pay 100 credits for just a hand or just a foot, to get them back to functional without losing two augmentation slots?

Seems like neither Luke Skywalker nor Ash Williams needed a whole arm replacement after losing their hands. Robot limbs are cool and very sci-fi, but I don't like the idea of getting more robot parts than are strictly necessary.

I would like for this to be addressed officially for Society play (if not put in the FAQ as well).

Thanks for your time!

This sounds like more of a Rules Question.

Is there a particular reason why it is better suited for this Forum?

If it gets FAQ'd over in the Rules Questions Forum, SFS abides by it. If it gets answered here, the vast majority of Starfinder players are left without an answer.

Either way, there probably wouldn't be an answer until after PaizoCon (and maybe even GenCon).

Official Clarification: you can choose to purchase an arm/leg prosthesis to just replace the lost hand/foot. The price and rules remain the same.

Side Note: I'm not sure this is the level of detail that we'll be going into with our rules FAQs as this is a pretty fringe case. For what it's worth, since I'm in the physical office this week I used this question as an opportunity to strike up a conversation with Owen (not that I need questions to speak with him, but it was an amusing aside for both of us.)

Nefreet: I asked in the rules forum first, and got no official clarification. Since it relates to my SFS character and a society adventure when it happened, I figured I'd ask here.

Thanks for the response, Thursty!

I'm grateful that Zoggy won't have to get any more artificial parts than are necessary; he's a pretty big naturalistic treehugger, for a vesk.

You should let us know when you are in the office in the future, so we can give you fringe case questions to throw at Owen.

Its obvious that the people in a position to make official clarifications are terrified of the starfinder rules question forum and for good reason.

When I'm working on new software features, the last place I want to look is the bug tracker, especially one as active as that forum.
