We got to play Savage Tide! At long last!

The party has had four of the seven NPCs they've been escort-questing through the jungle kidnapped by Bar-Lguras and finally has found their way to the sinister demonic temple at its haunted heart where they've supposedly been taken, guided there in part by the Invoker|Oracle's gibbering familiar (basically a larval shoggoth in a cat-skin disguise).

This puts the group at level 8 and perfectly set to enter the fiendish temple at the beginning of the next session.

I believe Aiymi and I are going to be picking up our customized and beefed-up Rise of the Runelords in a few minutes. I hope.

Last three houses viewed. The first was really nice, a bit interesting in layout with the 3 car tandem garage, small bedrooms in the front and master next to the living room/dining area. The sliding glass wall to the pool was nice. If it just had one more room, it would be perfect. Also, the master bath was poorly renovated.

Second house is just about perfect. Only saves me 10 minutes on the commute but has all the room we need, plenty of parking, not gated. It's also coming in about 20k below our budget. Depending on utility reports, we're pretty sure we'll put an offer in. The last house was a huge display piece. (Seriously, the front room was racquetball sized. Lots of good room upstairs, but not a lot of usable area compared to the previous one.

So what's the status on the house hunt?

We’ve toured about five different communities with build options. The latest one is looking like the best option of commute, room choices, and price. The downside is the 10 to 12 month construction time. But we can look into a 12 month rental for the time being and make do pretty well.

That's a long time to wait but I bet it will be worth it!

It makes way more sense to negotiate them putting all tile in from the start rather than buy something existing and ripping all the carpet out. The year wait will also allow us to build up savings in a less expensive rental.

So, despite the bottom of the depression well I'm in I'm going to try and run one of my two homebrew games Saturday. We've missed a lot of gaming time this summer so I'm really hoping the crew can cheer me up with their silly, heroic antics. It's the higher level one, so I need good juju to make sure it all works. Plus, there is time travel involved, so that just makes it all the more confusing for everyone...lol

So how about the rest of youse?

No longer entirely sure. I know a friend of The Adult Kid is coming over to pick up The Adult Kid's stuff (long story) on Saturday, but otherwise I'm not sure. Zelda is still out of state, but Aiymi is now a captive audience...

I have no clue, which is how I like it.

I don't get how, even though my whole family is that way. Personally I can't function without a schedule, it drives me up a wall.

See, my family is the opposite, my mom used to have our whole summer planned out by April and my brothers will plan a night out for weeks, or months beforehand.

Of course they do it all on Facebook and never let me know until a few days or a week before because they can't concieve of someone NOT being on Facebook.

I'm not quite that proactive but it's definitely more my speed :P

My parents on the other hand are incredibly difficult to get to nail down a schedule until maybe a day or two beforehand at most.

I used to be a sort of seat of the pants planner. Now I have to have a plan and if I have an appointment for something I arrive at least 10 minutes early. Drives me nuts that my GF barely does anything on time.

Viewing some more houses tomorrow. Most of the builders aren't going to work for our needs. Cyz wants a standing tub and no carpet at all. Fulton Homes won't put tile on the second floor. So yeah, no second floor options work. The one single story we really liked didn't have a free standing tub option. Rather than put more work into a brand new build after the builders finish, we'll get an existing house that can be renovated to her liking.

I've never seriously hunted houses. I wouldn't even know how to begin with this stuff.

Me either. We're lucky to have a friend who started working real estate this year. She may not be expert, but she at least can do the work of setting up stuff for us.

That's really great. I have a friend who got her realtor's license last year. She's done fairly well with it.

Oh! I forgot to mention my son's band is playing in town tonight. I'm going to go see them at 8.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

No gaming this weekend. Zelda and I have a trip into Wisconsin this weekend. Granted, we're going to stop by Cap Yesterday's place on the way back home on Sunday, so you never know what wild and crazy stuff we're going to be doing.

Probably gardening.

I'm supposed to run the continuation of last week's game. If I didn't have 3 players making a 2 hour drive to get here I'd just postpone. I haven't felt up to working on anything all week, so the game is not ready.

That is this weekend, isn't it.

I need to look at a calendar more.

Edit: I'm going to have to show you Noble Knight Games, it's on the way out of town, and is surprisingly impressive for it's location.

I'm actually working tomorrow, but it's in the morning, and all we're doing is establishing grades, so we're basically pointing a laser at a stick and and driving wooden stacks into the ground, and I'm getting paid overtime.

"I wish I could get paid overtime for hunting space vampires" - The General.

"Dad's hunting space vampires!?! Save some for the rest of us!" - Crookshanks, from the living room.

Welp, my game plans have suddenly changed. The three guys who drive from Memphis to here to play with us (a 2+ hour drive) won't be able to make it. We'll be playing the side campaign, instead, which is great because I actually have a game written up for that!

So it's Friday once again. So who's doing what? Nothing going on here this weekend, except my son's village idiot roommate is supposed to be moving out. Wooha!

I'm scheduled to run a table tomorrow, but if we don't get enough stuff packed Cyz can't make it and we'll be short players.

Pack like a rat! (Or something clever about rats and packing, I dunno).

Oh that would NOT please Cyz. She does the organizing.

I admire folks who can do that. Me, rats and packing.

Meeting up with Freehold tonight in the Chicago suburbs. As for the rest of the weekend...not a clue.

Relaxing from the long road trip. Supposed to rain this afternoon/evening so probably not leaving the house. Did some errands and paid some bills this morning so that's all caught up.

Scint is going to DM/play her 5e game tonight and tomorrow night so I'll be otherwise unoccupied with our usual time-passing methods (which generally consist of putting on an episode of some British comedy/skit/quiz show like Big Fat Quiz or QI on YouTube and watching together while I play Dwarf Fortress and she works on school prep stuff). So I might play some Bloodstained instead since it's finally out.

So far Village Idiot hasn't done a damned bit of packing for his move, which is supposed to be tomorrow. Of course, he's fiddled the day away and now he has to get ready for work. He also works tomorrow but is off Sunday. My son and I are rapidly losing patience with him. I'm a really laid back, easy going person and I try to avoid conflict at just about any cost. But I can already see where this is heading.

Working! And then another 3 days off :3

Maybe playing Starfinder on Sunday if we get enough people for the table to make. Otherwise it'll probably just be three days of PbPing, chores, and the Kingmaker CRPG~

You can still get a Cadillac Escapade, but GM cancelled the Pontiac Hijinx back in 2009.

In an unrelated sidenote, VW nearly went bankrupt after Ralph Nader was killed in a test drive of their new VW Shenanigan in '79, but they received a reprieve from Tom Baker in a time-traveling Reliant Bond Bug powered by two quarts of peyote tequila and a pound of Jelly Babies.

This has been Drunk Pugwampi History.

It's Friday, I'm in Love

Tonight, my spouse and I are going to a dinner party at a friend's house. Unlike our house, she has air conditioning!

Tomorrow, if it doesn't rain too much, I'm planning to repurpose an overgrown rock garden in my back yard as a grilling area. If all goes well, I'll also set up our new Big Green Egg charcoal grill/smoker.

An old friend from college is coming to town on Sunday for a business conference next week, and we're meeting her for dinner that night.

And when I have spare time, I'm planning to finish up my Session Zero planning for next week's launch of my new Thursday night campaign: The Ultraviolet Grasslands. I'll be using a "Powered by the Apocalypse" RPG system partially of my own design that I'm calling "Ultraviolet World"... It's a heavily modified version of Dungeon World.

Sounds like a very busy weekend! While the village idiot moves his crap outta my house I will be silently rejoicing while staring into the abyss.

RATS! I seldom have a problem working around absent players because I have a backup campaign for that. But this weekend two of my players will be out and two others are driving in from Memphis (about 2 hours away) for the game, and they're in the primary campaign, the one I was planning. I don't want to ask them to wait because one of them has been laid up with gout for nearly 3 weeks and been unable to attend our sessions. Now I gotta figure out what to do with the absent characters from the primary game. Again I say RATS!

Looking like Savage Tide is going to go on hiatus for a while. Our normal host is going to be unavailable for a while while her husband/my brother recovers from surgery, for an undetermined amount of time.

So this Saturday going to talk to the other players in the group about moving to roll20 (something we should probably do anyway, just to make us less reliant on any one player having to be present to host the MapTool server) and starting a new game while the current campaign is on hold.

Everything is playing by ear this weekend. Aiymi may be working all weekend. Zelda may or may not be available.

I think I've come up with a solution to the out of town player problem. They're currently traveling time with a Time Warden (RGG class) trying to fix problems that a group of Time Flayers has caused in the history of the setting. I'm going to say they've been kidnaped by the Time Flayers and taken away from the rest of the party. When we next play this campaign I'll have to have a sidebar with them to bring them up to speed.

The last few years I've gotten pretty lax in my game prep. Sometimes it really shows in the sessions. Tonight's game has a half page of notes. The rest I'm just going to have to wing and react to what the players do. Wish me luck.

Nic ran a wuxia wire-fu style game at PaizoCon for us with nothing but a list of names and his memory of martial arts flicks. One of the best games I've ever been in and maybe the only one to make me cry.

Oh cool! That sounds like it would've so much fun. I'd love to play in a wuxia style game at least once.

My game tonight stank on ice. I wasn't prepared, I began feeling like crap about the middle of it, and I lost track of what little I had had in mind and finally just stopped it and sent everyone home.

Bleh.

Aiymi and I did some Runelords, then Zelda picked me up to help a couple move, then back to Aiymi to play more Runelords. She just defeated Nualia.

Started character creation for my group's second game, one we can play with the more consistent members of the group when other obligations make Savage Tide unplayable.

It's just me and two players so they're each running two PCs. One's playing an elf witch and possibly a paladin. The other is running one of the veilweaving classes, I think nexus, and a roguish character though exact class is not yet decided.
