Dwarfquest in NWN Friday night. The dwarves (and one gnome) will be seeking out the final of the eight runestones they need to find and re-open the lost city of Thunderholme.

Hopefully Iron Gods on Saturday, after likely working in the morning. Then Race for the Runecarved Key's next chapter in NWN Saturday night.

And the next bit of Rise of the Goblin Guild in NWN on Sunday.

Quests all went well!

Dwarves beat up a cell of Zhentarim agents and Banite priests, banished several devils, and defeated a Skymage and his Obsidian Dragon mount to reclaim the final runestone.

Harpers disguised themselves as Zhents - after beating up a Zhent priest and his Erinyes in their last quest - and waylaid the caravan bringing Maiveer Sloan's money to Saerloon, freeing a captured Dweomercat in the process. Yet one more person knocked out of the auction. Just a couple more to go!

The goblin guild is no more, thanks to the brave goblin slayers and adventurers who tracked them through the sewers of Arabel and into hidden gorges beneath the city. They also found strange shrines to Demogorgon and the two leaders - a hobgoblin bard and a bugbear barbarian - marked by the Netherese rune of Wrath. Both of these prompt further investigation.

So another non-gaming weekend here. Hiatus until at least the 11th, which will be the Saturday after my knee surgery. But more likely it will be another long stretch until the 25th, given everyone's schedules. My Skype player is moving to a new city and is pretty busy so it might be best to wait until the later date. Either via Skype or her occasional visits for "live" gaming she's never missed a game in the last 4 years, so I'd hate to break that streak for her.

So what's everyone else doing? Gaming, movies, chores, socializing, anything. I live vicariously through y'all...lol.

No game for us either, and my NWN event got rescheduled due to multiple players being unavailable tomorrow.

So going to see a morning showing of Endgame with parents instead.

May the Fourth be with you all, by the way!

And with you, always!

But, it's not May 4th... Or is it...

It will be soon. Very soon...

Zelda went to Missouri for the weekend. Aiymi and I are watching two of her kids until we drop them back off at her place on Sunday, then Aiymi and I are heading to Chicago for the Montreal Guitar Trio and California Guitar Trio concert.

Busy weekend! Enjoy the concert!

Of course, the Wisconsin Guitar trio consists of three drunks from a local bar all trying to play Smoke On The Water on their accordions in unison.

I know what I won't be doing.

Shoveling snow.

I know that's a f+@&ed up thing to say a week and a half into May, but hey, it's a f%#~ed up year.

2nd weekend of April I lost a huge branch out of my remaining cedar tree due to the weight of the snow that came that weekend...

Yeah...

It's been that kind of year.

I have no idea what I'm doing this weekend.

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

My RPG life has been very busy the past few weeks!

Back in January, I joined the online RPG community The Gauntlet. They are focused on indie RPGs, story games, and OSR gaming. I played through a 4-session online (video chat) game on their site: Legacy: Rhapsody of Blood. That was a "Powered by the Apocalypse" game that simulates a Castlevania-style story of generations of a family fighting against the same evil overlord. Very interesting game! And I just started a 4-session Dungeon World game with a different GM and set of players.

In face-to-face gaming, my Swords of the Serpentine campaign is building toward a climax where we're working to resolve a major plot point. The GM says we've got about three or four sessions left. I've volunteered to take the GM reins, and am planning to run a point-crawl campaign using the OSR setting The Ultraviolet Grasslands, and a modified version of the Dungeon World rules.

One cool aside regarding our SotS game... The GM of that game is a professional fantasy/comic book artist who's done quite a lot of work for TTRPGs over the years (mostly for Champions and Mutants & Masterminds). He also publishes most of his work through Louis J. Porter's "Portfolio" fantasy stock art series. On a lark, he did portraits of the 3 PCs in our game, and they are all now published in Portfolio #52. (My character is the "Dimensional Sorceress".)

Due to calendar conflicts, my weekly D&D 5e Waterdeep: Dragon Heist game hasn't been able to meet for three weeks. I think we're on for next week, but I'll be gone the following week for PaizoCon.

And I'm working on the final touches for the two games I'll be running at PaizoCon 2019: Swords of the Serpentine: Corpse Astray, and Spirit of '77: BEAST-Bound and Down.

Speaking of PaizoCon... I got into two games with celebrity GMs! I'm in a Call of Cthulhu run by James Jacobs, and a Starfinder game set in the new Grimmerspace 3rd-party setting for SFRPG, run by Greg Vaughn. I'm especially psyched for the Directosaur's CoC game: I was in James' Unspeakable Futures game at last year's PaizoCon, and he is an EXCELLENT GM!

I've also been throwing far too much money at RPG Kickstarters. Two I'd like to plug are:

Evil Hat's Fate of Cthulhu takes a VERY different take on the genre. It's a time-travel adventure: The PCs are time-travelers from a possible future where the Stars Were Right... and are trying to prevent that outcome. It's Lovecraft crossed with The Terminator. It's also the first time I've seen a Mythos game that's hopeful: The PCs have a real chance at defeating the Old Ones.

Sundown by Grasswatch Games. This is a rules-light fantasy RPG with an Old West feel that deals directly with issues of colonialism. There are also strong positive themes of LGBTQ inclusivity, with a setting that has a very open concept of gender. The pre-release version is fascinating, and I'm hoping to bring a demo of the game to a table sometime soon.

Another weekend of gaming abstinence here. I still want to rest up a bit. Not really because of the knee surgery, because that went really well and the pain is much more manageable and will become even more so, but I really needed to step away from gaming a while. We thought about gaming this coming weekend but some of the others have things going on and next weekend my GF is coming down. We've set May 25th as the date where we swing back into things.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Work in the morning, Iron Gods in the afternoon, and a NWN event for my haunted tiefling in the evening.

Church Sunday morning, then my dwarf continues the delve into ancient ruins in Scint's NWN Runelord of Envy plotline.

One more weekend until our gaming hiatus is over. My GF is coming down again this weekend (I love her but really would just rather be alone with my never-ending knee pain) but we rarely get to see each other more than once every 4 to 6 weeks.

So what's everyone else up to?

Unsure of my gaming this weekend. Going to be at Zelda's tonight, then back with Aiymi tomorrow. Not sure what Sunday brings. Maybe some more of Aiymi's RotRL campaign.

I know the big group isn't going to be meeting until probably July.

Augh. So much to do, so little time. We are finishing Wardens of the Reborn Forge tomorrow night, after months of delays. Just in time for our Seekers to be ready for PaizoCon. Sunday should be Skull and Shackles to move us along, but around those games we have to pack up the house and move the knicknacks into storage to stage for listing. And I have to get five scenarios prepped for PaizoCon. All by Wednesday afternoon. Ugh. At least one of the five is already prepped.

Possibly gaming tomorrow, possibly not, dunno what everyone's status is other than one of the four PCs is out for the weekend for sone IRL stuff.

NWN stuff Saturday also postponed due to absences.

Nothing at all planned for Sunday.

We're game-ing this week-end! We're game-ing this week-end! *runs out into the yard and skips merrily about*

Gaming all weekend long here. DMing NWN quest tonight, DMing Savage Tide again at long last tomorrow, playerside in a NWN quest tomorrow night, DMing again in NWN on Sunday, and playerside again in NWN Monday night.

And off work all of those days. Woo! Catchin' up on sleep!

PaizoCon is in full swing, I have been nailing high level play for my crew and got into a nice romp this evening. Tomorrow morning I do my first volunteer table, then spend the afternoon preparing to finish off part 3 of the Seeker trilogy.

I've had 5 hours of sleep since Wednesday. It's 4:49 AM where I live. I have a game to run tonight and it'll either be a masterpiece of inspired lunacy or a masterpiece of crap. Cross your fingers, everyone!

Well, that was an inelegant dumpster fire.

Savage Tide did not happen sadly.

On the other hand my NWN Barbarian got to rampage through the Far Realm-tainted nightmares of the Lord of the Wyld Hunt. Which that was pretty cool, minus some frustration with some of her party-mates.

Sorry about Savage Tide! I was really looking forward to last night's game but I was blind sided when two of my players who hadn't let me know they were going to make it showed up. I had prepped a game for the other campaign, the one they're not involved in. I was a little irked at not having been able to prep for last night's game because of that, but the ultimate end of our game sessions is to have fun and things got uproariously funny when the topic of a Sherlock Holmes/The Death Dealer discussion went south and someone sketched "Sir Arthur Conan Frazetta" in the style of one of Frazetta's classic paintings. Tears were shed, ribs were split.

And just finished NWN run of In Wrath's Shadow. Party has purged the undead from the hidden Netherese ruin's temple to Orcus. I added an animated statue of the demon prince, replaced the harpies with goblins (to connect this plot to the previously-run Rise of the Goblin Guild), and swarmed the party with tons and tons of Curst when they first entered the lower temple.

The two Sunite clerics and the Kelemvorite paladin have jointly sworn to purge the place.

All in all went pretty well!

This weekend includes a day trip to St. Louis with Zelda and the kids. Going to see Brightburn with Aiymi tonight.

I lived in St. Louis from summer 2000 to summer 2001. Lots of cool things to do but things went really sour on us as a family and career-wise there so we moved back home to Arkansas. Some would say that's a step down but it worked out by far for the best.

As far as things go this weekend it's our "weekend off" between sessions. I'm *occasionally* writing notes for next week's sessions while dog-sitting for my ex-wife.

This Saturday is game night for us. I have two possible adventures ready for the crew but I'm going to try and combine them because each one alone is really short. One of my players might make a 2 hour drive to attend (I have three players who often drive that far, though from different cities) so if she makes it down I want it to be a good game.

What about the rest of you folks? Gaming, lawnwork, trying to take over the world?

I, uh, don't have anything this weekend. At least not tomorrow. We're looking at houses on Sunday, assuming our agent can schedule the viewings. And I guess we have board game tonight, even if I have to drive an hour across town to our friends for it.

I've never house-hunted, having rented all my adult life. But I have a friend who's a realtor and she said it can pretty fairly stressful for the prospective buyer. I hope it's not that way for you. Good luck!

We've got family to stay with while the paperwork is going through, but the less time we have to impose, the better for all involved. I think the biggest stress right now is that we have a month for the sale to close, meaning anyone we make an offer to will have to accept a delay on closing their house. So we might find a house we really like only to be rejected due to other, faster closing offers.

House hunting sucks.

This weekend...maybe gaming with Aiymi tonight and some of tomorrow. Tomorrow afternoon I'm heading over to Zelda's. I have no idea what we're going to do tomorrow evening.

Zelda's kids are with their dad this weekend.

Tomorrow is my birthday so my parents might take me out to dinner somewhere, but it's been a wonky couple of weeks so I haven't been informed of any plans in advance.

Otherwise I have work in the morning and I'm going to try and run a Savage Tide session at the usual time in the afternoon, if we have enough players present. It's been very hit or miss the past few weeks.

My game got canceled because of the barely tolerable pain in my knee. It hurt so much it would've been distracting.

First house has pocket doors between the upper bedrooms. Not a good choice for two separate individuals. Passing on that.

Next two are above budget but don’t have the extra space we are looking for. Only the second one is close enough to be workable, with some improvements. Gated community however.

Last three houses viewed. The first was really nice, a bit interesting in layout with the 3 car tandem garage, small bedrooms in the front and master next to the living room/dining area. The sliding glass wall to the pool was nice. If it just had one more room, it would be perfect. Also, the master bath was poorly renovated.

Second house is just about perfect. Only saves me 10 minutes on the commute but has all the room we need, plenty of parking, not gated. It's also coming in about 20k below our budget. Depending on utility reports, we're pretty sure we'll put an offer in. The last house was a huge display piece. (Seriously, the front room was racquetball sized. Lots of good room upstairs, but not a lot of usable area compared to the previous one.

So tonight's game is cancelled because three of my players forgot we were getting together, despite my updates to the group FB page. Kinda miffed as I crammed together a pretty good adventure at the last moment. GRRR...sigh...
