There are threads like this elsewhere. I'd like to see if we could make a gamer one. :D

Guidelines: Share vanilla, gently amusing, or everyday things about your gamerlife.

Life can seem hectic, or sometimes caught up in toxicity. The intent of this thread is to not to deny those moments, but to share the chill of others and that can be...benign gamerlife.

So:

Today, I realized it was humid and that my precious gaming books might suffer. So, I carried a dehimidifier into the office and pressed the power button. My books are now happy, or I imagine they are. In the meantime, my office sounds as though it is inhabited by a rather large bumblebee.

It's Tuesday! Whoo hoo!!

Today, I realized that I was still okay at the swashbuckling fox game. I also got all of its Starfox references, even though I'd never played Starfox. Perhaps I am old!

I saw a bunny rabbit in a grassy patch across the street from my house, today. I got a good ten minutes of feeling at peace, just watching it scamper about.

I had a similar experience a couple of weeks back. There were five cottontails playing in my yard. I stood and watched them for while then suddenly three of them came streaking toward me, turning at the last second. I laughed out loud at that.

I see what you did there.

Today I was actually filling in the holes.

As far as gaming stuff goes I'm pretty excited for the Pact Worlds pawn set coming out, and the Ruins Of Azlant one too.

My daughter and her friends started a Starfinder group at school.

That is pretty amazing. How is it going?

Finished a sketch that had flying puppies in space-sky. Realized I still need to work on shading, but the rocking chair looks cook, so that's nice.

I finally got around to picking up the PDF for the Starfinder CRB! Now to give it a read (as I'm able) and work on making a character for Starfinder Society :)

I got the chance to play an Oozemorph through a Confirmation PbP.

It was the fastest PbP I've ever been in, as an added bonus, and I was a serious asset to the team!

I've just completed a major purge of my RPG collection to make room for PF2 on my bookshelves (because you can't be too prepared right?)

So far, half of it has gone to good homes. I'm getting ready to bundle up the other half - mainly PF1 stuff. I'm just vacillating over some bits and bobs that maybe I want to keep..

There's something satisfying about reordering one's bookshelves.

I've been having trouble dedicating time to reading my newest RPG acquisitions; every time I settle into the chair in my library with a book, my cat starts demanding my attention. I can't even be annoyed, since he's so adorable.

Pretty good, they have character sheets printed and a couple have characters made.

It's only been a couple of weeks.

I of course donated a Starfinder CRB to the cause.

My dogs got me up at 4 am for a walk. It's really nice to walk at that time of the morning. There's no traffic, only the sound of birds and the scent of privet, roses, and honeysuckle.

I can't listen to so called classic rock radio anymore because of their increasingly limited playlists. When I listen long enough and realize I have every song they play in my album collection I get angry and turn the radio off.

Having said that I've discovered a streaming classic rock station that is near perfection. I've been listening for over a week now and have only heard 7 songs repeated, and then only once each. It's chock full of album cuts and songs I literally haven't heard in decades. I'm in rock'n'roll heaven.

It's day two at work without the boss. It's been so peaceful and everyone is getting sh!t done.

Please forgive the long URL, but my formatting button doesn't work. It's simply called Classic Rock Hits on the TuneIn website and app.

https://tunein.com/radio/Classic-Rock-Hits-s249994/

The link may take you to a Google search page, but it should be the first link you find.

Link. Went to the station just fine.

Good! Hope you enjoy it.

Today, I discovered that stroganoff without dairy is not only possible, but wonderful, because coconut yogurt is a thing.

I fed two gaming buddies, and a budding-buddy with it, today, who is just a little past one years in age. No leftovers.

A couple of weeks ago I was finally, finally bumped up to full-time status at my job after working 30-40 hours a week for the last two years as PRN status (aka 'as needed'). Yesterday I got my first paycheck since that status took effect - it wasn't a gimundo increase but it was still enough to be noticeable. Every little bit helps :)

That's great!

Last week I finally finished and submitted my grad school thesis paper. Only took me 6 months :|

But you did it! That's the important part!

Its a Masters of Art Therapy and Counseling program, so case studies from my internship working with adults with developmental disabilities and dual diagnoses, as well as a personal study tying together the practice of blind-contour drawing and zen meditation.

Good to know.

Are you secretly Superman. I must know.

I went for a walk and sat by a pond.
A lot of redwing blackbirds chirped. A yellow warbler of some sort perched nearby. A red admiral butterfly went by.

On the way there I saw trillium, violets, solomon's seal, and dandelions in bloom.

My GF is coming down for the weekend and my son's band is playing in town. I rarely get to see them play as they're on the road so much.

Yesterday I started building a wall, six different shapes and sizes of blocks, they were expecting it would take 2 people until the end of the day on Monday.

I got done with building it myself at 2 pm today.

Captain,

Better be careful, they might expect that ALL the time, and in half the time you allocated for it.

Somehow got an extra day of vacation/off this coming week. Not sure how I swung that, not sure what I think of it yet.

Gaming Connection: I'm leaving for PaizoCon on Wednesday, so having the extra day off to prepare is both a blessing and a curse.

That was me at my normal speed.

It's my first month back after five years off so I'm trying to establish my baseline. :-)

It'll be fun to watch the time lapse video when they get it up on their facebook page. :-)

Finally after 50 years I have a dedicated gaming room in my home! Saturday I was blessed to run the inaugural in it for three of my five children, my son's fiancée, my wife and her brother! We played 01 Silent Tide, I thought it was fitting.

I went outside at just the right time* and was able to see the space station fly overhead, full of instruments and astronauts.

*I subscribe to NASA's "spot the station" email list, and they send me an email 12 hours before every visible flyover.

This is the 18th time I've seen them in 6 years.

Wow! That's really neat! To my knowledge I've never seen the station fly over. I may have seen it and just thought it was a jet airliner or something, though. I live in town now, anyway, so the light pollution makes it very difficult to see night time sights.

It's actually quite easy to see, even in a dense town or city. Just go somewhere like at small park, etc, where streetlights aren't shining directly in your eyes. Backyards work too.

Here's the kind of information they send you
Time: Wed May 23 4:01 AM, Visible: 6 min, Max Height: 79°, Appears: 10° above WNW, Disappears: 10° above SE

And here's where you can sign up.

Spot The Station

Thanks!!

Cal, if an object moving in the sky has a constant brightness, it's either a satellite or the Space Station. If it appears to blink, it's an aircraft.

That's true. Didn't think about that at the time I wrote that. So who knows? I may have seen the station and not realized it.

I have rediscovered Anne Waldman, and had not realized she'd made YouTube videos.

Yesterday got the chance to meet up with Korolan from the Pittsburgh area when I was heading home from a writing group I was a part of.

We didn't get the chance to play any PFS or SFS, but we did stop to eat at a place called 'Mad Mex'

Spoiler:
...and then have my guts turned into a post-apocalyptic Australian Outback, but that's as far as we'll go there
then stopped by a local gaming shop and played a game of Mystic Vale, where you build cards and gather resources en route to victory.

All in all, a pretty tranquil and chill end to a long and busy vacation weekend.

That is, of course, before the monsoon came while waiting for my train back to the Chicagoland area, but that's a whole other story...

This past weekend I rescued my game from the train wreck that was the last session.

Played two society sessions on Saturday. My ranger is almost fifth level. Going to start another first-level character for the low tier games. It'll be a gunslinger, I think.
