Spell Points -> Arcana

Prerelease Discussion

Save yourself five letters and a word on every reference to spell points (unless you intend to drop it to SP in a majority of locations) and make it less metagame sounding by changing the name. Since Arcana isn't something in use yet -in 2nd edition-, you can change the name of anything which would have used that term. Since all your Spell Point based abilities seem to be added together from all classes, it feels unnecessary to use the term arcana as it was used in pf1e because Magus will have the same pool of abilities as a wizard and no reason to particularly distinguish between them beyond "it's my level 5 Magus arcana" and "I use my level 2 wizard arcana".

What about clerics and oracles?

I recommend adding "arcana" to all the other suggested names in Spell Points - Less gamey name please.

EDIT: Wheldrake already suggested "arcana" in commnet #115. Right before Catharsis recommended the name "Use".

Arcana is an uncountable word like, say, mathematics, so it sounds weird when used for a countable resource. It would serve better as the name of the skill that used to be called Knowledge: Arcana.

Persona 3 Nyx: "Yes, the Arcana is the means by which all is revealed."

I actually really liked the suggestion of "Mana", and it saves one whole more letter! The notion of "Mana" being a countable resource is well established, and it's not tied to either arcane or divine.

EDIT: I assume usage would be "You can spend 5 Mana", and "Your Mana Pool increases by 3".

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

They could steal a term from Ars Magica's use of Latin and call it Vim. /Mostly joking
