I just realized after my first game that my drone cannot keep up with me. It can never double move at the same time I do and it can't take the run Action.
So, in overland travel situations, does my drone actually slow us down? Never mind any chases.
I guess it has to do with game Balance in combat, but it does feel rather strange.

Can't you wear your drone somehow? Or is that a thing ties to class levels?
That's a Mechanic Trick, I believe.
I would allow a Mechanic to set their drone to "follow mode" and just walk/fly/scuttle behind them on autopilot. That's not far out of real world possibility as it stands.

Hover drones probably keep pace well enough overland and probably the stealth ones as well as the hover ones fly over stuff so they can take a more direct path and the stealth one comes with climbing claws which in some areas may also let them take more direct paths. Also they don't ever get tired so over any distance a drone should have no problems keeping pace.

Sometimes we forget that a double move each turn is hustling. Unless in combat, you likely aren’t hustling, you are walking (1move action per turn). Creatures who hustle for longer than an hour start taking nonlethal damage, which fatigues you.
Your drone can easily walk while the party walks. If you actually need to hustle for an extended period, you will be slower than the average party.
