Does the Grand Lodge keep records of its agents? How much information do they keep?

I ask because one of my characters is looking for his daughter, who ran from home to join the Pathfinder Society. It just occurred to him that she could be dead without him ever knowing about it. Would the lodge divulge any information about her?

At the very least, the Society keeps the Chronicles/reports that the agents submit after missions. So there could be information about her somewhere in one of those. I think generally they are available to be read by agents, unless something was important/dangerous enough to be redacted.

So it is possible there would be information to find with research, and it's possible there would be information the Society has, but is keeping hidden or is unwilling to share.

They collect field reports from everyone about everything.

Whether they can and or will FIND it again is another matter... (see the overflow archives)

"My 'Daddy' - to use the familiar nomenclature - has been missing for three years now, and I am working with the Archive to find him. That, in addition to resources that Paracountess Dralneen has brought to bear to handle other matters of personal import has secured my allegiance.

It is hoped that continued research will eventually provide insight into his whereabouts."

Estara's adoptive father Hogan was possibly abducted by parties unknown, but it is currently believed that it was at least one of the factions within the Aspis Consortium that was responsible.

In fact, thank you for posting the question, because it made me think character background and I thought of something neat.

I think it is plausible that they have pretty much whatever information you want to further your backstory.

In world, I'd imagine that the quality of record keeping varies IMMENSELY by lodge. Some would keep quite efficient records, some wouldn't have a clue what was going on :-)

It's even kind of pointed at with differing examples:

The Magnimar Lodge versus the Uscalin Lodge(sp?), for contrast.

There may be a scenario that addresses this specific question in great detail.

Okay, so at the very least, he could probably read her reports and see what adventures she has done (as well as her typos)? That still leaves some concern as reports are probably submitted and archived months apart from each other.

The in-game concept of the Society is that you submit your reports, and they get published in readily available "Pathfinder Chronicles". Think National Geographic magazine. The out-of-character representation of this is your Chronicle Sheet, but in-game anybody can acquire them. You can even buy a 50gp item called "Pathfinder Chronicles".

So there'd be absolutely no problem reading about your relative's accomplishments. The only difficulty would be regarding their last, as-yet-unreported mission.
