Polarisation

Advice

Hi,

I trying to come up with a list of poles that can be used as plot devices for a future campaign.
I think in the lines of:
Good vs. Evil
Law vs Chaos
But also poles that aren't exactly opposites such as:
Fire vs Earth vs Water vs air
The seven deadly sins

Now these seem a bit cliché, so du you have any other?

You could do the deadly sins vs the heavenly virtues.

Mind over body?

That's all I got.

I'm doing a campaign about free magic use vs government controlled magic use, set to tell the ongoing narrative of one city. I plan on reading up on A tale of two cities for campaign research.

GM vs the party
nature vs civilization
city vs countryside
nobles vs commoners

Light vs darkness
Mortals vs immortals
Past vs future
Defense vs offense
Aristocracy vs plutocracy vs meritocracy vs democracy

There's the 5 element system. Wood overcomes Earth overcomes Water overcomes Fire overcomes Metal overcomes Wood.

Land vs. Sea.

Populism vs. Individual rights.

Coke vs. Pepsi.

Long term vs short term (possibly several different short termers being manipulated by one or two long term consequence groups)

Flamboyant heros vs. Faceless organised groups
