Alright, put down your wishes for the Alien Archive 3. Perhaps Paizo would listen and put your wishes into the 3rd Alien Archive. For me:

  • Uplifted dolphins. yeah, if that's going to be a thing.
  • Genetic mutations gone wrong.
  • Junior.

Cat-folks and dog-folks. You know, to go with the rat-folks. :D

I would like to see expanded playable undead as the Borais in the Pact Worlds didn't really scratch the itch.

I would love something like the Moties from Mote in God's Eye (Or The Gripping Hand, if you want to get fancy.)

    Starfinder Superscriber

I would like a bestiary, a bestiary, and a bestiary. In that order.

Also, some kind of plant people, unless that's in Pact Worlds (that I haven't purchased yet...)

    Starfinder Superscriber

Just in case you don't actually want to know until you buy it:
There are plant people in Pact Worlds.

I didn't want to know! NOW I HAVE NOTHING LEFT TO LIVE FOR!

Kobalds! I can only imagine that kobalds accompanied dragons out into the stars. I'd expect a large population of them on Triaxus, and "free" kobalds are probably found mining in the Diaspora and Apostae.

Owlbears. Wait are owlbears copyrighted by Wizards like Mind Flayers? I forget.

Genasi, Tieflings, both Gith, & Aasimar... basically all the Planescape guys.

    Dinosaurs, probably.

Space dogs. Not, like, aliens that are dog-like. Regular dogs. But in space. Also an archetype for having a space dog companion.

Owlbears are open source. Don't necessarily know we need owlbears... IN SPACE! but Paizo can publish them if they want.

Gith on the other hand are not open source and are firmly under WOTC's control. I would definitely be up for a "similar to but legally distinct from the gith" race/creature(but preferably race) that isn't the urdefhan.

I've also been considering whether it would best for them to directly port their genie-kin races(ifrit/oread/sylph/undines) as separate races or do something similar to what WOTC did for genasi in 4e and stat them as one similar race with the dimorphic quality like lashunta, gnomes, and ryphorians have, with their element affecting their stats.

I do want to see more outsiders. Daemons, qlippoth, aeons, proteans especially.

I want to see the dirindi and the sazarons from Arkanen. Also more aberrations from gas giants.

More Dominion of the Black creatures would be good, they're good antagonists.

More of the Spaceship monsters with duel stats. I like something that you can fight in both style of combat. Also living spaceships are interesting.

I've enjoyed how Starfinder has presented aliens classes an themes that have drawn from beloved sci-fi novels and tropes but are legally distinct. Spice worms that mutate humans into aberrations that can enter the drift with their psychic power. Face hugging aberrations that spawn demons in the stomach of humanoids. Parasitic creatures that make their victims susceptible to suggestion.

More weird and wacky species along the line of bantrids.

I'd love to get the races of the Veskarium. The races that were mentioned in the Core Rulebooks. Get stats for all the species that were mentioned in passing.

    Starfinder Superscriber

I want more outsiders as well. But I'm also waiting for AA 2 to show some new stuff and maybe some old stuff converted.

    The Exchange

Classic monsters like Hydra. To help with conversions and time travel.

When it comes to classic monsters, orcs are really high on my list. I suspect they might be in AA2 but we'll have to wait & see.

Mainly I'm curious if they'll be converted to +2/+2/-2, +4/-2, or +4/+2/-2/-2. Because the idea of keeping them at +4/-2/-2/-2 is absurd.

I would personally love more constructs, tiny to colossal, magical and technological, diverse NPC and player race stats.also a table for different CR variants. .. ie broken , overclocked, cursed, blessed, but that's just an opinion of a humble Artificer.

    ROBOT AND MUTANT BUILDER!

I want more weird and creative sci-fi player character races, especially ones that are not humanoid in nature.

I also want diminutive and fine sized aliens that aren't swarms. I would love to see such minuscule creatures at higher CRs. What's the point of these size categories if you don't use them?

Last and not least, personally I find dragging and dropping monsters from my bestiaries into my Starfinder game quick and easy. It usually takes me less than a minute to convert monsters. Therefore adding monsters already found in Pathfinder detracts from new monsters. I want NO pathfinder monsters. I don't need reprints.

I'd not go that far. Rather, the pathfinder monsters that get redone should be ones that either:

    1. Need a *lot* of work to make work under Starfinder's design assumptions, and are iconic/useful enough to warrant the effort

    2. Have notable, interesting new context in the Starfinder era, vis a vis their culture and activities

Um,are the contents of Alien Archive 2 already set?

Better be, or nearly so, as it's out in like six months.

    Well this is more of an AA2 thing but since I don't think we need two wishlist threads at the top of the forum, I'll put it here;

I'm hoping that the "uplifted bear" playable race that's coming out in AA2 comes with an "uplifted animal" template that can be applied to any animal to turn them into a pc because I want to make a planet of the apes world ruled by an uplifted/awakened megaprimatus.

    Uplifted Giant Space Hamsters.

In case no one has aid it yet

    Radiactive elementals!

    Ie

    Plutonium/Uranium elementals

    Starfinder Superscriber

I think Thorium elementals would be better, because Thor, but yes, I second this. Radioactive Elementals, definitely.

How about a nice Potassium Elemental. You know, for those breakfast time encounters.

    Starfinder Superscriber

Those would be radioactive, too. :)

Yeah, but way less than the -iums already mentioned. Who wants a dangerous level of radiation for breakfast? That would be ridiculous.

    More outsiders!

I’d like to see petitioners and outsiders for Triune. Given the drift city’s demographics, I can only assume they are digitized and live in cyberspace with a rarely used ability to manifest in the flesh. That or “no magical travel to the drift” includes judged souls sent by Pharasma, so either there’s a normal deification realm or they’re using drift ships to freight in souls.

Oh boy, my wish is gonna be a weird one. Hear me out: animal-headed humanoids... fully described with template grafts.
    - THREE sizes to choose (Small, Medium and Large), each with a stat modifier.
    - 30 ft. land speed
    - head-based natural wepaon, be a bite, gore, slam, headbutt, peck, etc.
    - No hand-based natural weapons; it would be the head.
    - THREE specific extraordinary abilities, based on the animal family; swim/burrow/clim/fly speed, pounce, water breathing, that's all in there.
    - Grafts based on felines, canines, equines, bovines, primates, rodents, pisceans, avians, ophidians, non-snake reptilians, amphibians, porcines, cetaceans, ursines, pachyderms, cervids, etc. You name it.

Basically, as "childish" as it may sound, your typical animal-headed character. As a bonus, they could be genetic experiments, or evolved creatures that somehow can access to Orision's ancient Pantheon... which was about the Egyptian Gods.

    Starfinder Superscriber

It would be nice if we had some Giff, sure.

    pithica42 wrote:

That would be a Pachyderm ;)

But yeah, catfolks, tengus, kitsunes, vanaras, lizardfolks, ratfolks, rougarous and any other animal-based race could be reworked into a "graftable" alien race :)

Come on man, Giff are anthropomorphic hippo-men. Not that I know what word replaces 'pachyderm' for hippo-folk. What the hell is a hippo, a horse-pig-whale?

anyway, all hail the mighty Giff. They had the gunpowder first.

Pachyderm is derived from the word Pachydermata, which is a word to described an order of mammals with thick skin, like elephants, rhinos and hippos. "Pachyderm" is essentially the same as the words "canine" and "feline".

House cats, lions and tigers are felines
Dogs, wolfs and foxes are canines
Elephants, rhinos and hippos are pachyderms

Essentially, you could recreate Giffs using the animal alien race, or the Loxo, an elephant humanoid with 2 trunks.

That's fair enough. I realized mid post that while I've only heard pachyderm used to describe elephants, I wasn't actually sure what the word meant. I guess -derm for skin, at any rate. And if I stopped to fact check before I spoke, I'd never get anything done!

Note that "Pachydermata" is no longer an active scientific category. Scientists eventually discovered that most of the animals in that order were not actually related to each other meaningfully.

    Starfinder Superscriber

Yeah, I thought Hippos closest relatives (on the current tree) were whales and other cetaceans. And Rhinos are essentially a horse offshoot (and therefore, totally unicorns).

    pithica42 wrote:

Pithica is right. Hippos are actually ungulates. So are other cetaceans.

Name changes aside, it would be a nice alien to have, especially if it regroups several other races that were once used in previous editions and/or similar games ;)
Giffs, lizardfolks, catfolks, desmodus, gipplis, rougarous, ratfolks, loxos, raptorans, name it, it would be great :D

On the same note, more grafts for dragons would be nice, like Metallic (probably in AA2), Primal, Outer and such. Also, maybe also for Dragonkins? Hey, shouldn't be this hard to change the breath's energy damage and the energy resistance :P I know that it's "so easy that everyone can houserule it", but having official rules at hand can be useful :)

I still want a race of giant caterpillar/millipede like aliens so I can show off my superior hugging ability to all the other poorly "armed" races.

Tieflings and Aasimar complete with the customization charts for appearance and alternate racial 'gifts/SLAs'.

Thing about aasimars that has me curious is how they'll handle their ability modifiers; Starfinder doesn't seem to do the +2/+2 with no negatives, given they went & gave kasatha a -2 to int, which is fine but I'm not sure what penalties they'd give aasimar if they were a +2/+2/-2.

I've seen one 3rd party conversion that gave aasimar a floating +2 like humans & half-elves/orcs, which makes sense but would also strike me as rendering the different heritages as largely cosmetic, skill bonuses & SLA's not withstanding. But given that Starfinder's philosophy seems to be one of condensing I don't know if that's something the devs would be against.

The various tiefling heritages on the other hand strike me as pretty easy to convert as is. Just pick one of their alternate racial traits to replace fiendish sorcery(or drop it all together) & figure their racial hp & you're good to go.

Thought occurred to me and now I'm curious to see how many playable races we'll get going forward that in Pathfinder were monsters that were considered too powerful for that role. Barathus, dragonkin, grays, and shobhad give us some precedent.

I'm not expecting an oversaturation of such especially given that those mentioned were all specifically extra-planetary things to start with so fit with the setting more. But even still I don't think we've seen the last of cr 4-9 Pathfinder monsters becoming playable races in Starfinder.

I suspect there will be more rules in the future that allow you to break off "monster" abilities into things like feats, or archetype abilities. That way, you *can* gain stats similar to those of the higher CR monstrous races as a PC. You just have to spend class resources on doing so.

    1) An actual full Sized book comparable to an actual Bestiary/Monster Manual

    2) Conversions of "Classic" Monsters.
2a) A Marilith wielding Multiple Energy Blades :)
2b) Space Dragons and Space Dragon 'ship' stats.

YES I technically can convert and/or build my own Marilith(think I will get right on that :P), but the whole point of buying books is to save myself time so that I can simply flip a page instead of having to spend time making my own monsters.

Maybe not an actual monster, but more of rule...

In Alien Archive 1, there is no Colossus creature subtype graft. I kinda can get around if it's like Pathfinder's Kaiju subtype, but still...

Flip side of that is that the first three bestiaries were released every year. Wasn't until Bestiary 4 that we started seeing two year gaps, and even then, on the off years we'd get Bestiary-like books such as the NPC & Monster Codex.

True, but... Starfinder at least has some basic conversion rules, which means that you can covert all 6 Bestiaries. Time-consuming? Yes, especially when some monsters got converted in the APs.

Just like you have PF classes for you to convert, you can do the same for the Bestiaries, which means that Starfinder didn't start with a lacking monster database.
