Here's hoping they drop the next blog early

Prerelease Discussion

I'd really like them to showcase something on Wednesday the 4th instead of waiting until Friday, just to backburner the current war on the boards right now so it's not the main topic of almost every active thread.

But what if the Paladin one is next? No matter how silly and heated the goblin argument got it's not going to hold a candle to the Paladin one - no matter how they handle Paladins.

I'd really like us to be better.

It would be nice if Paizo didn't have to time their blogs so that they had moderator resources ready to go in the aftermath.

Honestly, it doesn't matter if someone disagrees with you. Say your piece and let them say theirs. :(

Bring on the next topic to war over!

If my lobbyists are successful, in the next blog post "murderhobo" shall be restored to its rightful place as a legal selection for the profession skill.

I look forward to the day when the Paladin blog is released. I shall have a lot of work on my hands, but my work is fulfilling. Needed.

The day started with many paladins. The day shall end with far less.

Well, they did say they were planning on doing 3 per week, so maybe we'll actually start getting that. I think they're just really busy with getting the Playtest materials sent to the printer right now.

It’s also Paladin Debate Bingo Night, so the order is really looking forward to some good wholesome fun after a long day of battling the forces of disorder.

Look, I don't know what you have against Goblin Paladins, OK they might be rare in many countries, but since Galt switched over to Metric they've just been popping up everywhere. People actually love them, instead of the ornery stoic type they've come to expect from Paladins, these ones are happy to toss a match into an Orphanage if that's what they really feel like! Somebody's gotta teach those orphanages they better build to metric code, or else!

{shows up munching 3d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 3) = 9 fresh waffles} We're eating right now, but maybe a pally could trip over us when we're done.

Oh, come on! I finally get rid of the blue wee ones and now there's GREEN ones!

I'm still surprised they didn't drop a blog yesterday or today. You'd think they'd want to give people something else to talk about, haha...

Maybe after the explosion of hatred and argument over goblins they took a few days off to reconsider what to put up next, perhaps something that won't cause the same level of grar.

Excited to be able to move away from Goblin talk. It currently holds the record for most posts fighting about it! Hope they drop something like the Wizard tomorrow, which should give a lot to talk about.

Or maybe they'll "rip the bandaid off" and move straight to Paladin just to get it out of the way. Then everything else moving forward can (theoretically) be more positive... XD

I imagine they'll probably schedule the likely more contentious previews for Mondays and the less reaction-producing previews for Fridays, if only to avoid having to keep the already busy mods working overtime throughout the weekend.

I applaud your optimism. My only hope at this point is that the months of waiting burns people out emotionally so that the playtest can actually get down to actual business.

It'd be better if the next blog post was 'Class Preview: Warpriest (your new, more flexible, Paladin base)' ;-)

Why are people expecting the Paladin blog to be divisive, even more so than the Goblin blog? I can understand some concerns over the introduction of Goblins into Core, even though I don't agree with them, but Paladins have had that status for decades, or are people still debating over alignment and restrictions?

They are and they will until the end of the world. And one day more.

All I know that this community will treat every new blog entry as the worst apocalypse since the last blog entry.

Come back on Friday when we'll look at some of the feats from the other ancestries in the game!

Pffft. You and your careful reading.

Next blog: Alignment revamped, we are now using the Mass Effect alignment point system. Paladin require at least 50 points good and 25 points lawful to qualify or they will fall!

Even comedic responses can suggest improvements to an endlessly debated sybsystem.

Roll 1d8 to see how many points of good you gain for saving this man from the goblins.

You lose 1 point of good for every neutral creature you kill.

You lose 1d4 lawful for jaywalking on a sunday to go to church.

For collabrating with evil to attain the greater good you gain 5 for every day you stop the evil character from doing evil, you lose 5 if you fail. If the evil cause good then it negates this loss.

That's a terrible way of doing it, but at least it would be codified.

I do start to worry when people take my exaggerated jokes seriously, but yes at least there is some "logic" to it that you can quantify and make a system around.

I still dont know how a proper system would be, but personally i would ditch the entire system and rework the alignment based spells and abilities to work differently, like detect evil would detect Demons, Devils, Deamons and the exposure of such. Holy Smite would work better on Undead, Devils Deamons etc etc.

Its a lot of work working out a replacement or a reason to just axe it completely.

Thanks, I missed that! That sounds great.

The hype is real.

For every neutral act, you are geased to tithe 0.1% of your current and future loot to a goblin orphanage.

For every evil act, you are geased to tithe 0.5% of your current and future loot to a goblin orphanage. Also, for each such act, you gain one fully-ensugared and caffeinated non-evil goblin toddler added to your encumbrance. Yes, killing this goblin baby is an evil act. For each non-evil goblin you kill, you gain an additional 10% karmic chance of returning in your next life as a goblin.

I strongly disagree. If Paizo is trying to gauge the reaction that an action they have done causes, trying to sweep it under a deluge of new announcements is both hypocritical and counterproductive.
