I always thought that divination's massive bonuses to initiative and always acting in the surprise round were worth a lot more than the ability to take evocation and necromancy spells without spending up an extra slot. With PF1's unbalanced schools, it felt like a very clear choice to me to grab a specialist school.
But, the schools are supposed to be evened out at least a bit, I think. That might make a universalist a stronger pick than before.

Well Wizards to some people are things that lack specialization. They don't pick fire spells because they are arsonist, they pick whatever because wizards are whimsical amoral weirdos. Wizards really also just gets too many spells to pick one type anyway.
Also what timezone does paizo use. Trying to figure out when 12:00 pm is.

I mean, Wizards were already always picking a specialization (Divination, specifically) and just picking the crappiest schools for their opposition schools. Universalist Wizards sucked precisely because the Wizard that "specializes" in a school suffered practically no penalty for doing so and could still do basically everything he wanted to do.

Wizards can't be generalists and also the best at what they do. You're gonna have to pick one for the class to be even remotely balanced.

It seems like the blogs only rarely go up at noon, though. Check back in an hour.
Or check back right now!

I doubt familiars will be the next blog topic, since that is now going to be aa bonus blog. But CrystalSeas might be right in that there was no blog planned for Friday. If that was the case, the bonus class blog Mark wrote and is in editing would be great for Friday's release, since it could slip in but not disrupt the schedule they had previously.

Fuzzypaws |

I imagine the bonus blog on classes, familiars and the Gauntlet will be today, since they had it all written except for the last bit on familiars that was met at the last second.
They will have probably pre-written the Friday and Monday blogs to go up normally even though they are at the con.
Friday will probably be about the schools of magic, maybe with a side of focus / arcane bond.
Monday won't be anything massively controversial since they won't really be available to moderate. So Monday and next Friday will probably be another week of setup for a class blog to follow on Monday June 4, like how they set up the Paladin with weapons and armor.
So if I have to guess, I'd venture Monday will be animal companions, next Friday will be exploration / overworld, and the 4th will be Ranger. Alternately Monday will be something else pertinent to the Ranger (traps? creature types and a deeper dive on monsters?), and animal companions will be the Friday following the Ranger.

We’ll just have to keep an eye out for PaizoCon news- there will be some playtesting, after all!

Hopefully some good people at the con will transcribe stuff for the benefit of the forums, or Paizo staffers will just post their presentation notes or recordings of the panels. ^^
Start checking knowdirectionpodcast.com after the convention is over.

Yeah, even with no blogs I am expecting we will still get some substantial news from Paizocon. I would be utterly shocked if the panels didn't include or confirm some info we hadn't seen before.

While such things can be automated, I would assume that paizo has a guideline that requires the author to be available reading the discussion and break up potential bigger misunderstandings (which could be pointing towards the formating/language of the blogs but yes, still required nonetheless). Before someone asks why there is no automated release.

I really hope they have a blog on multiclassing soon.
Unlikely, considering there are a lot of classes yet to be blogged about. They will have an easier time talking about multiclassing with more classes to use as examples. If they blogged about multiclassing today there would be a flotilla-load of questions from the community.
We only have ~16 posts left. At this rate there are many topics that won't be covered in blog posts before the release.

Maybe just get higher res copies of the pages they showed at PaizoCon? Not controversial since they've already showed it and talked about the info, but desirable because it's high information density and can confirm stuff that people have had to deduce from blurry images.

Since there's a lot of stuff remaining for them to talk about and not as many Mondays and Fridays left to talk about it, I hope that whatever they do cover they cover more in depth in longer blog posts. Put everything relevant to a class or whatever blog in a single post, instead of letting people speculate for a week on incomplete information then dropping the other half on Friday. Show representative samples, instead of unusual outliers like we got in the ogre and redcap which aren't a good reference point for the topic in question.
The book has already gone to the printer. They are no longer in danger of saying something that may no longer be true by the time the book reaches us and will have to be walked back.

It has? Man it would be nice if the playtest started a little earlier, provided it doesn't cause some kind of discomfort or prolbem to the designers.
