I'll cop to being wrong about thinking the cleric blog wouldn't be very controversial... XD

Still a powerful class and still looks more powerful than the fighter and rogue to me, but man some of the opinions in that thread. Haha

I really wish people would calm their farm about class balance until they have seen the system in its entirety. "I've seen 20% of this class, OMG it's broken!". I despair.

Sometimes comparing classes is like comparing apples and radishes. Yeah, they're both round, red, and have a stem on top, but any comparisons past that are kind of meaningless.

So where's your money on for next blog? I don't think it's gonna be a class, perhaps some races (ew) or some mechanic. They did mention they'd handle Deities eventually, so that's on the table.

I would love for a blog post on roleplaying and flavor. Any of these things: down/exploration time, backgrounds, economy, alignment, religion, travel times, height/weight tables, you name it :-)

I believe one of the devs said in the Cleric blog forum, that Domains will be next.

More specifically, Friday seems to be about Deities, with Domains being part of that. That's how I read it, anyway!

Currently hoping Monday is either Wizard, since everyone is very curious about it in the context of the Cleric rebuild, or Resonance, which is another big important topic we need to know more about to understand the context of other articles.

Yeah, Friday is deities and domains. Mark's comment here is tantalizing ...

Deities have a pretty big influence, but one side effect of the deities/domains blog being separate to really flesh those out is that not all of those influences have been spelled out yet (at least for a short while!)

Paizo, I have never prayed to you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if we were good players or bad. Why we saved, or why we died. All that matters is that two rolled against many. That's what's important! Good lore pleases you, Paizo... so grant me one request. Grant me a blog! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you!

Gosh, it's only a few hours left, and the Paizo forum is acting strangely... Why can't I access it directly for almost a day?

Likely some sort of foul magic. Or fowl magic...

So either druids or demon worshipers. My money's on druids.

The Paizo forum is fine -- it is the Pathfinder forum that is virtually inaccessible. If any given Pathfinder Playtest thread is not in that "Recent Threads" box at the bottom of this page, good luck finding it.

Blogs should still work. It's not like we'll miss that part.

But we should collectively clear our throats if somebody suggests taking something in the new blog discussion to another thread before they fix the current Pathfinder forum bug.

It looks like they fixed it before that happened.

I guess I should quit practicing my "Harumph!"

Guesses for Monday? I'm still hoping for Resonance with a side of magic items. That's definitely going to be a Monday blog, it's just a question of whether it will be /this/ Monday.

If not that, it will probably be another class. They've done spellcaster and divine stuff for several weeks now so if it's a class, I'm guessing martial. Ranger, Monk or especially Paladin are likely to be the most contentious martials and most in need of a Monday slot, but again probably not Paladin because of weeks of divine stuff already. Barbarian will probably be a Friday blog, maybe the same week as the Ranger due to some similar thematics.

I’m guessing that we’ll either get the Wizard Blog this Monday, now that we have a decent understanding how magic works and what we can assume the Wizard’s Spell progression will look like, to round out the “Core 4” and then Friday’s Blog will be about Wizard Schools or whatever it is that could replace them.

Or . . . Paizo will just bite the bullet and do the Paladin Blog since we know that Alignment will be in the game, and they told us how Edicts and Anathema will work. Thematically (and now mechanically) the Cleric is probably the Closest to the Paladin, so it would be a logical continuation.

I bet Monday's blog will be spinach, tomato, mozzarella, and pesto sandwiched in a toasted rosemary infused Italian bread. The acidity of the tomato will compliment the creamy, almost meaty mozzarella, and pine nuts, capers, and basil of the pesto will mingle wonderfully with the rosemary baked right into the bread, all while the fresh crunch of the spinach brings something that isn't drowned out by it's competing neighbors.
It will go well with sausage and ricotta tortellini in tomato sauce, and a cup of espresso.

I'd honestly be fine with them doing wizard or biting the bullet with Paladin. I just think it's less likely because of complaints from Certain People who have already raised a stink about supposed "bias" in the order / concentration of topics XD

I'm kind of guessing either Paladin or Druid if we're doing classes. We've just gone in deep on religion. It would make sense to continue into Paladin while the anathema discussion is still on everyone's mind.

1of1 is right that rosemary bread is rather nice... toasted with some cream cheese spread across it.

I just want damn sorcerer post so i know how hard i need brew to elevate the class to usable level.

Right now it's looking like it might be more powerful than Wizard in some ways. That could change but I wouldn't assume you'll need to power it up.

Nor will a single blog be a good barometer for this.

I know we dont have enough data in hand.

Though I am sorry to pester you again. How might the sorcerer be more powerful? I heard he got some heritage spells? Will these be extra known spells?

No worries, I like answering questions and being helpful. :)

So, at the moment we know that Sorcerers get 'lineages' of spells, which are, eventually, at least two spells (very likely more over the course of the game) that they automatically know at every possible level. They also, separately, get spells known as we would expect a Sorcerer to get (though they must be learned at a specific level, so no free heightening them).

That's technically all we know.

However, if a Sorcerer gets at least two spells known per level (which seems almost certain), then that means that they actually have at least 4 options per level to cast with any individual spell slot (2 Lineages + 2 Others).

Meanwhile, if Wizards have the same progression as Clerics, they max out at three spells prepared per level.

This means that, on any individual day, a Sorcerer has more options on what to do at any specific spell level (that their lineage spells are available at) than a Wizard does. Now, half those options are the same two spells at every level, but if those options are Summon Monster and Dispel Magic, that's still pretty great.

The Wizard can still prepare for the coming day and pull non-ritual utility spells out in a way a Sorcerer can't very well, and I'm sure Class Feats and other stuff will be different between the two as well, but with potentially greater options and presumably greater spell slots at every level of spells...the Sorcerer is looking very nice.

On top of that, due to Class Features (as opposed to Feats) being on odd levels, it seems nearly certain that the Sorcerer will be getting their new spell levels on odd levels just like a Wizard (so they can get 3rd level spells at 5th, for example).

Scarab Sages

I'm still hoping Sorcerers take a page from the Kineticist and get improved blasting options with cantrips.

This is still totally possible assuming Wizards get something else to compensate. We'll have to wait and see.

Scarab Sages

I wouldn’t mind reducing the Sorcerer’s regular spellcasting so as to balance them against the Wizard.

I'd settle for them having a purpose before fourth level. Well, beyond IDing magic loot for the party, and maybe negating two encounters a day if prepped correctly. That's pretty handy around levels two and three, at least in PF1. It follows the ironicly applicable idiom, "it's nothing to shake a stick at." Oddly, the idiom seems to have taken on a reversed meaning in my neck of the woods, so instead of being something unimpressive, it is something you might want to treat with respect. Like a bear...
Either way, shaking sticks at things is appropriate for our magic nerds.

But screw settling, hopes are far more entertaining. Perfection being the anathema of good enough, hopes for such often disappoint, but are oh so sweet when they bear fruit. I hope the wizard and sorcerer both hit that beautiful point where they feel like competent parts of the team, neither overshadowing the party, nor feeling left behind. Getting hit with the nerf bat from several angles, while simultaneously being injected with buffs to keep the victim conscious has had a long and storied history in the edition surgery room. Go to far on either end, and you've got either got a sad cripple, or a very angry superhero.
I suppose that the playtest is probably going to be used as a tool for finding that sweet spot.

You mean like the amazing versatility of being able to change their list of spells each day?

I called the last one (cleric) My guess is the next one is going to be monk or wizard

Prediction time: Wizard! Completes the classic quartet and let's them get into arcane magic after they've spent some time with divine.

Monday's blog was delicious. No, wait, that was a sandwich.
Oh, a quartet might be nice around lunch break.

Good lord, just drop the new blog already and end pally weekend....

At least drop it so everyone will quit bringing up yummy sandwiches . . . *rolls Will save to not break my diet*

Knowing my luck, I’ll cave in and go buy a meatball sub only to discover the blog dropped while I was gone!

C’mon Wizard Blog! I need to know how many Spell Points It’ll take to drop this unwanted Bulk!

Don't be too impatient. Based on the timing of the past blogs, which seem to have released in the afternoon of Pacific Time (and usually toward the back part of that!), we have about 6—10 hours to wait.

Definitely. I've been hiding all threads with "Paladin", "Alignment", "Goblin" in the title, as well as all threads with titles like "Paizo Do This!" or "The Worst Idea" or similarly Mad Online titles. It's been a good choice.

But how else am I going to drink in the overblown melodrama that sustains me? Mmmm, salty.

I would bet Paladin and Monk are going to be two of the last classes we get. Not the very last because I bet Paizo wants to end the blogs on a high note, but those two classes are the ones that no matter what they do some people are going to be really unhappy.

As excited as I am for more class information, mechanics blogs are nice too. Wizard is pretty easy to guess for the most part based on Cleric.

Tellin ya wizard or monk.
