It should be fine. It may seem like a lot, but if you have a well rounded 4 person group they should be okay. While investigating, we knew what we were looking for and swung by the library and discovered they are vulnerable when they are disarmed. Further, in our campaign, they ran when their numbers got low (this might have been our DM realizing we were indeed taking a bit of a pounding and changing the encounter though). Try to hint to them that Vendelfek could be useful.

Try to hint to them that Vendelfek could be useful.
Also useful: burning hands, magic missile, alchemist's fire in a pinch . . . basically anything that deals energy damage without requiring an attack roll.
Even more useful: sleep and other spells that cause status.
Most useful: effects that cause status on a failed fort save. Which brings us right back to Vendalfek, who does just that with his breath weapon.

My group did decently against them and they didn't have Vendalfek yet.
I think the Shaman cast sleep or colour spray... that being said, the rogue went down and lost two teeth, the Dervish Bard nearly went down? I think the Monk did most of the damage and the fairies kept missing him. (I only think this is accurate... I have terrible memory when it comes to details of combat.)
