Pinpointing Targets Beyond 30' possible?

Yes - I am creating and planning on playing a Blind character.
No - I will not change him to a Clouded Vision cursed Oracle.

Now that we have that argument out of the way, I'm currently at the understanding that the feat I take as a Level 1 Monk can count as a prerequisite for the other feats that I'm taking at level 1. I've talked with my DM about this, and he said okay. So far, the biggest trouble I've seen with this build is a lack of ability to fight against opponents more than 30ft. away, because his "blindsight" only extends that far... any tips on fixing this little problem? Also, the race is pretty much stuck as a Vanara, sorry.

I'm thinking about going back to Monk and either adding Meditation Feats (mainly for Sensory Meditation, Body Control, and Mental Meditation) - or trying to find another Style feat that works in conjunction with Blinded Blade. Any advice on that?

With that in mind, here is what I've gotten so far:

Trait(s): Blind Zeal

Character Level 1 - Monk 1

Level 1 (Bonus Feat: Trait) - Blind-Fight
Level 1 (Bonus Feat: Monk) - Blinded Blade Style (ignored prerequisite due to MoMS Archetype).
Level 1 (Level 1 Feat) - Improved Blind-Fight (BBS counts as 10 Perception)

Character Level 2 - Monk 1/Fighter 1
Level 2 (Bonus Feat: Fighter) - Blinded Competence (BBS counts as 10 Perception)

Character Level 3 - Monk 1/Fighter 2
Level 3 (Bonus Feat: Fighter) - Greater Blind-Fight (BC counts as 15 Perception)
Level 3 (Level 3 Feat) - Blinded Master (BC counts as 15 Perception)

That is... horrifying. Congrats, my GM would detest your minmaxing skills just for what you've got so far. I don't have anything to add I just felt the need to welcome a fellow minmaxer to the fold.

The scarred monk archetype looks like it's compatible with MoMS and can give you blindsense 60' at monk level 4.

Despite your impressive sensory abilities, I wonder what this character actually does in combat? With no flurry of blows, no damage bonus in class, no spells and the first 3 levels of feats devoted to this, you don't have an obvious role to fill. I guess you can pick up a greatsword or polearm to hit things with so you're better off than some, but it's not a good start.

No, he must use the sword cane!

A little background on this character before proceeding: I'm currently discussing these characters with other people who are also making Vanara characters. We currently have plans for a Vanarian Blind Monk/Fighter, a Vanarian Mute Magician Bard, a Vanarian Deaf curse Oracle, and a Vanarian Paladin. They are all Lawful-Good, but they all have their vices. The mute is vain and likes listening to his own music, The blind loves to speak lies, and the deaf loves looking at the ladies. All the while the Paladin does his best to keep them togeather.

The Four "Wise" Monkeys: See No Evil, Hear No Evil, Speak No Evil, Do No Evil. Maybe when I'm not discussing a theme team with friends and making my own character, I'll be human to be more optimized. In the meantime...

@avr - That is actually one of the reasons why I was posting on this board. I was hoping for some advice or ideas of where to take this character with the feats that he has. Blinded Master gives 1/2 Character Level to Feinting - is that a good secondary focus for combat? Also, I'm currently looking at the styles available, but none of them seem to mesh well with Blinded Blade, do you have any advice on that front?

@Zarius - While this might seem strong, it does have its disadvantages. Mainly everything past 30 feat will murder him, and as stated above he has no combat focus.

Any ideas on possible paths this lowly Monk(ey) might take to his path of sight beyond sight?

With feinting you really want something that takes advantage of denying the enemy their dex bonus - sneak attack or similar. A monk/fighter doesn't have that. Also you need a bunch of feats and you've already got the frontloaded ones from fighter.

Anyway, one way to go with this might be to play it like a fighter even if you take more monk levels. Armour up with full plate, swing a big two-handed weapon, make sure to get power attack, for the second style maybe grab snake style for some more defence or dragon style to let you charge more easily. I'm not sure whether that would fit your concept of course - many people playing monks want to use unarmed strikes or weird monk weapons, and no armour.

If you want to do the latter then it's going to be a bit harder. Also I'm less familiar with pure unarmed builds.

Either way someone in the party wants to throw around fog or darkness spells so that your enemies have difficulty seeing. That might combine well with panther style on a pure unarmed build - the enemies might not catch on as fast that taking AoOs on a panther style expert is a bad idea.

Hm... a Heavy Armored blind Fighter wielding a Greatsword sounds like an awesome build concept for the Human character I was thinking about building outside of this theme team. However, reviewing the team that I'm currently working with right now, I believe the unarmored Monk with the Lore Warden Fighter would be more appropriate for the idea.

Regarding the Vanara character, I'll probably be splicing Dragon style onto the build, and focus on slapping people with wet noodle claws. Lol

I'll probably also be going with the Scarred Monk and be taking the Scarred Armor whenever I'm not taking something else.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a MoMS Monk Build where one of his style feats is Blinded Blade and the other is still being decided? lol
