How robust do you think the core downtime system will be?

Prerelease Discussion

In a rather off-handed remark in the blog about levelling, they mentioned that there would be a downtime system. As one that loved that system from Ultimate campaign, I am wondering how robust it might be.

Do you think they will included teams and organizations? Do you think it will create more interesting activities outside of entrepreneurship?

I think we should expect it to be as robust as the Ultimate Campaign systems. It isn't going to look the same (at least I hope it doesn't) but we should expect to be able to do the same types of activities.

That is, of course, speculation.

Also, I hope that if we do have buildings, we get proper brothels instead of 'dance halls'

I hope it'll be as complex and involved as that one. I've only had the pleasure of using the downtime rules once, but I really enjoyed the experience and would love to use them again.

Don't think the full crazy "Business Management" stuff is gonna fit into the CRB. But we're at least gonna get things like retraining and day-jobs most likely.

It'll be everything for crafting items, retraining, and most likely researching.

Don't expect the kingdom ruling stuff.

This. We might also get a system for acquiring and "spending" contacts. We definitely won't get the fiddly stuff, or building strongholds, which they will undoubtedly hold for a splat.

I would like to see a system for using downtime to learn a feat or skill or Proficiency outside of just gaining levels. People in real life with a lot of skills aren't actually high level characters, that's just how they allocated their time. I honestly don't care about balance concerns either, though I'm sure they would make each new feat or skill gained this way take progressively more time than the last and that's fine. PFS will obviously immediately ban this form of progression but it should still be laid out for home games.
