Racial Ability - How much RP should it cost?

Homebrew and House Rules

So I've come across the Consuming Creature template by Green Ronin and I was wondering how much each of those abilities would cost if used in the ARG's Race Builder system.

My first thought was have the 'Consume' and 'Consuming Curse' abilities count as one, with something like 10RP, since it is the defining feature.

But, if it were split up, I can see 'Consume' costing 3RP or 4RP, because of it's once a month restriction, in addition to the rest of the requirements.

'Consuming Curse' on the otherhand seems like it would be worth a sizable RP investment. I say this because, as I understand it (I could be wrong, if I am, please correct me), if the creature contracts the curse, each day it fails to beat the curse's DC it looses another universal monster ability or class feature. If that is true, then the Consuming Creature could potentially gain access to a decent amount of abilities, fairly quickly.

Input is appreciated.

It's anywhere between 1 to 20 points.

Seriously though, don't ever bother with the ARG's Race Builder system. It's just bad. Use common sense instead as a guideline.

I was actually hopping for an actual constructive answer, not '*froths at the mouth* ARG is bad'. There's a reason I'm asking about using the Race Points system, I'm not just doing it for fun.

There is no number of race points that can pay for consume. This is because the power of consume scales with ingestion points, which scale without limit.

Quote:
Challenge Rating: Same as the base creature +2 plus 1 for every 2 ingestion points (see consume).

consuming curse is almost as bad.

Really, if you want this on a player, write a class for it. Cap the ingestion points at 1/level, give it 3/4 BaB and 2 good saves. Done.

Edit: thinking about it, If you cap consume. I'd price it around 6 RP per ingestion point. With none of the other abilities.

The curse, I would limit to granting only one ability (regardless of the number of cursed targets) and price that at 4 RP.

I understand. But I'm trying to tell you that what ever reason you have, you're asking an impossible question. There is no reason in the race point system, we can't logically value anything in RP as it's all over the place.

If you use the system of your own volition, just stop. If you're building a race to get approved by someone else, ask them instead.
This is as honest advice I can give.

Knight, thanks for your input and suggestion (sorry I didn't respond before now, work and a trip to the hospital). I did end up finding a class that was quite similar to what you suggested, and I'm trying it out.

I already understand that the RP system isn't perfect and that it has flaws (I think it's obvious to anyone who looked at it), BUT that was not the question, nor was that in the boundaries of the question, so AGAIN, you are not helpful and all you are doing is 'no, stop, *froth more*'

But since you think there is no reason whatsoever to use the ARG race system, I'm going to shoot that down: I was applying for a PbP game, in which we were suppose to create a race with up to 20RP.

Since I was going to be applying next to a number of other people, with limited available slots for acceptance. I didn't want to lower my chances by getting approved, so before I did that, I asked here to see what others might think of the ability and put their thoughts on its cost.

And unlike you who has not been helpful at all, Knight Magenta actually did help, and even gave a suggestion of doing something non-race related to get a similar result.

So in the end, there was a valid reason for using the ARG race system. Just because you think it's trash and should be burned, does not mean it has no place or use.

If you cannot be helpful or constructive (even if it's constructive criticism), then I do not see the point of you posting, at all.
