Taking over the world!

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Hey all! We are running an evil game and we are all going to eventually take over the world of Golarion. Now every single country has extremely powerful NPCs that can crush parties if they tried, not to mention most also have armies to contend with and with a few places even have gods roaming around or at least protecting the place (Nidal). So...

My party consists of damphir wizard/necromancer (myself)
damphir anti-pally (might take lvl in fighter)
kitsune bard dervish dancer
tiefling warpriest of Calistra

and thankfully our GM is cool and if willing to bend rules a bit but i am just curious.. what level do you think 4 people would have to be to take over the entire world?

If the NPCs use the same tactics you do, then you're outnumbered, friend. It's an impossibility.

If they don't, then you could for sure do it at fifteenth, when you permanently polymorph yourself into a Great Wyrm golden dragon via polymorph any object, and then use your once a week free miracle to create simulacra which in turn create simulacra which bury the world under waves upon waves of inexorable draconic flesh.

Well first off you're gonna need mythic or when you get to Mendev Deskari is going to murder your face off. And when you conquer Varisia you're going to have those pesky Runelords Sorshen and Xanderghul coming back sometime and they're mythic lvl 20 wizards so... yeah. Gonna need mythic for those guys, you aren't killing them otherwise.

Be wary of Irrisen too. Baba Yaga won't be happy with you conquering it and she's also a lvl 20 witch/archmage tier 10 and immortal twice over (mythic tiers and from 'capturing her death and locking it away').

Two potential deities you have to deal with directly, Ydersius being resurrected in Garund, and maybe Nalinivati in Tian Xia (Neutral naga goddess of sorcery and fertility, one of three who managed apotheosis entirely on their own) though it doesn't say in the book whether she dwells there personally.

Then there's the various great wyrms, one of which, Daralathyxl, is strongly hinted at being mythic.

Assassination of the very powerful is definitely a way to help keep people from ganging up on you, eliminating them one by one before you have a public place of power, making it harder to hunt you down. Mind blank will be an absolutely necessity. Methods of immortality (lichdom, vampirism) for when you inevitably get killed are good ideas.

Researching ways to help cut off Golarion from outside help, maybe ask your DM about bringing back Purple Rain from the book of vile darkness to help cut off divine access.

Use Numeria's treasure trove of advanced technology to obtain weapons of mass destruction (WotR details that the technic league has a working nuke, they try to use it in the event the PC's lose, they just f+*@ up and blow up their HQ).

Hrmm... invading the Cenotaph and trying to obtain some of Tar-Baphons necromantic power and armies could be an idea.

There's one flying city of Shory left that you could try and research to get your own flying fortresses, powerful weapons of war there.

The spire of Nex outside of Absalom could have great secrets for powerful weapons.

Use the elfgate in Kyonin to go to Castrovel and form an alliance with the Formians there, help them conquer Castrovel and they help you conquer Golarion perhaps?

Depends on what you mean by conquer...

Control all of the leaders? Not that hard.

Destroy everything? Good luck.

Somewhere in-between? Probably 18+

I feel like the better question to ask is, "What tactics can be used to take over the world?" From there, it's just a matter of utilizing those tactics. Depending on what sort of wealth you have available, what kinds of minions you have, and what sources you can draw from, the level you can accomplish it can vary. With lucky dice rolls and a huge treasury (attainable via any number of ways with a bit of starting cash), you could take over the world at level 1. As a Commoner. Just make sure you get a really high UMD modifier.

The most straightforward method is to get an army. How do you get an army, you may wonder? Well, I'm glad you asked:

Method 1: Diplomacy
This one is perhaps the simplest of them all, as well as the most historically accurate. Every nation has something it wants; and they all have their enemies. Offer them something they want in exchange for attacking one of their enemies. The Drow, for example, would love to help you wipe out their cousins upstairs, but (for one reason or another- it's not entirely clear) haven't made any direct attacks. You could, for instance, offer them direct access to the elven capital (and the permission to do as they wish with any elves they capture) in exchange for them allowing you to rule the land that is left. A scroll of Teleportation Circle or routing them through a Demiplane would do that easily enough (though why the Drow haven't done so themselves is unclear, there's nothing stopping you) Once the dust settles, you have yourself nations at your feet.

Method 2: Conquest
So, you need an army? Just take over an existing one! It's easy enough. I'll use the orc hordes of Belkzen as an example here. So, you find an orc tribe with a moderately weak-ish chieftain. Your antipaladin then challenges the chief for control, and wins (sabotage as needed). Then, rinse and repeat, until all the orc hordes are under your control!

Method 4: Necromancy
This one... you need a lot of corpses. Shouldn't be too hard to come by, though. Once you have your corpses, you need some way to reanimate them. Fortunately for you, though, Sea Hags are only CR 4, and if you get a coven of them, they get at-will Animate Dead for free! Just intimidate/bribe/ally with them for service, and you have your undead army. Controlling them is a bit harder, but optional. You could just let them loose and let the zombie apocalypse occur! (Apocalypse zombies work best for this- yes, they are a real thing.)Watch out for adventurers, though. But that's what you're for- to mop up anybody who might stand a chance.

Method 4.5: Pyramid Scheme
Step 1: become a vampire (all of you)
Step 2: hit your HD cap for other vampires
Step 3: have your spawn hit their HD cap
Step 4: rinse and repeat
This method is kind of brutal, yet cool. For every step you go down, you multiply the number of vampires of equal HD to yourself by a power of 2, giving you exponential growth. Plus, you can control creatures of a higher HD than yourself, so level 5 you could control (if you could kill it) a level 10 vampire, who in turn controls a level 20, and in turn controls 2 level 20s, and so on.

Method 4.75: The shadowpocalypse
This one is similar to the above, but uses a particular type of undead: the Shadow. With a touch-attack Str drain and a Create Spawn ability, all you really need to do is find some way to get permanent control over a single Shadow, and let its Create Spawn ability go wild on some housecats until you have an army. Then, sweep through cities-every commoner killed is another Shadow for your army- and even the greatest of great wyrms will get taken down fairly quickly with a never-ending stream of Shadows coming after them

I'd keep going, but I'm out of time, and hopefully this is a bit of a start for you to get your own ideas going.

Basically, get an army and abuse mass teleportation. It's canon that even a god can be taken down when outnumbered enough. Ten thousand archers firing on a single target means anything without DR is going down fast.
