OK I've finally found the forums and I think rules and advice for pathfinder should be visible from Pathfinder subforums instead of having to click pathfinder Rpg. It would be more intuitive and user friendly that way.

My thoughts and prayers go out to Paizo's customer service which is likely getting its share of "please make the website look like it used to be" calls/telegraphs/teletext/pager messages/carrier pigeons/smoke messages/lighthouse signals/snail-mail.

Just the option of being able to pick how you see the site would be nice, though likely less than desirable by Paizo.

At this point I'd just like the sidebars back. They were quite useful and I keep thinking I need to scroll left or right to see them again.

Larger font gets my weary eyes' vote of approval!

Don't know if this is just me, but under "My Account" all the sub-menu options are overlapping and look a jumbled mess... minor gripe like.

I am much happier with the text size, keep it please. But as mentioned in my previous post, things are still slower, less accessible and more difficult to browse.

I guess my request to know what features have been ADDED is just put on ignore (for now?)

Apparently the PFS and SFS subscription process ran much smoother.

I dare say a lot of it is behind the scenes stuff.

I don't know if this is the right place to drop a 'feature request', but I'll do.
Maybe one of the highly responsive staff will stumble over it.

*** Feature-Request: Notification Bar ***
Intro
- A page back, we heard that you guys plan to bring back PM notifiers (which is BIG!), so I got thinking ...

Feature: Notification Bar / Field
- Give us a notifiers field/bar on top of the page, that provides insight whether any new PMs have arrived OR any 'new' post have occurred in any thread of 'My Campaigns'

Why?
- It would feel modern. Every (mobile) OS now have some kind of notification center, so an equivalent would be nice and 'edgy'
- For people with LONG campaign lists, it would be a one-gaze solution rather than the scroll-scroll-scroll-oh-damn-nothing-new as we have atm (+ you can check this on any site, rather than on your campaign tab only)
- Shouldn't be too much of an implementation overhead if you already have to come up with a PM indicator anyway, right?
***

Glad the colors are back.

Update:

* Font is too big in both Chrome and Safari. Gah, it's like I've zoomed in one level. Now to zoom out manually.... OMG, now the font size is ok, but is tiny in the comment field/box. Waydaminnit... Ouch, too big again. Oh well.

In Chrome:
* While playing PbP noticed my character's bolded sections aren't bolded like they actually are in code.

* Also, bolded text in general sin't appearing bolded. Is normal in Safari.

In Safari:
* Tabs are now working in PbPs Discussion, Gameplay, Recruitment etc, but links in Campaign Info at top of page are not as on this page - while they do in Chrome.

* Also, a very minor thing - in Safari, when trying to click on Campaign Tabs, I have to hover/mouse over the word, and down just underneath it until the line appears under the word [Gameplay/Recruitment/Players etc] and then it is clickable. In Chrome, any time I hover/mouse over the word anywhere, the line appears and is clickable.

Just discovered:

In Safari:

On My Profile page, I can't click on any tabs (Aliases/Campaigns/Posts/Threads etc). Works fine in Chrome.

Something I just noticed (shutup I get distracted/hyper-focused easily) and that I like is the BIGASS searchbar up at the top, rather than being smol and off to the side :3

Yay for the colors being back. Font looks fine on iOS, haven’t tried my PC yet.

Please switch the entire site to HTTPS and drop insecure HTTP entirely (by redirecting it to HTTPS). Encrypting the checkout and login is below the bare minimum of security needed these days, and Paizo is very behind on this. Every page in a site should be encrypted, even if it is 100% “public” info on the page.

Something I've noticed flagging spam: The transparency on the "Select reason for flagging" dropdown menu makes it hard to read the choices.

Not sure if it was always transparent, but it wasn't an issue until this latest round of changes. Might be a combination of the new fonts and sizes.

Ehmagherd. I looked for a way to search for something for quite a while and eventually found a workaround in the Forums. Somewhere. I did't even register what that thing was until I read your post. Maybe it wasn't there before. Since the changes I mean. And no, I'm not distracted. Or hyper-focused. Just....a little slow.

The font color and size changes are VERY welcome.

I am glad the words are actually large enough for me to read again...and oh yeah SMURF:)

not a fan of the new design,

it looks and feels like hundred other websites now, the old design was simple and unique, you instantly knew you where at Paizo

Rysky wrote:

As for other things, the site overall feels faster so yay! Though I do miss the colors and sidebars :3

Also the little red dot that you let know someone sent you a PM, it always made me so happy seeing that ^w^

As for a request, for the dropdown on My Account, can a link to Campaigns be added to it please?

I didnt even notice that the message icon was missing. That also needs to come back.

It's missing off-topic, but that's a bug that they have identified and are working on.

I'm going to bookmark this link so I can use it to enter the forums. The setup is much easier for me to navigate, than any other link I tried.

It's been mentioned numerous times, but I also really don't like that the side bar is gone. Not having it has hugely slowed down the general usability of the site. We used to be able to see all the most recent posts and store and Paizo blogs entries at a glance. Now we have to hit at least a couple links to get to each of those areas which means even a general visit to the site now takes quite a bit longer. I used to "ping" the site 10-15 times a day, just to see if anything interesting was up, now I'll likely drop down to once or twice because it's now a significant time investment to "drop by".

The revised site does look cool, but there's no good reason to not have it also include a very cool new version of the side bar too...nudge, nudge, wink, wink....please?

The store blog page is still using invisible links

Eyes On The Forest, Not On The Trees

If you scroll to the bottom, the last sentence is actually a link, but there's no visible way to know that.

"Check out all of our Pathfinder Society Roleplaying Guild Scenarios here!"

While I believe that I am in the minority, I did not like the sidebar at all, and am glad that it is gone. Gives more real estate to data.

I am not your typical user however. I only have two sub-fora opened "Paizo - Website Feedback" (just because even after 8 years of retirement, I still enjoy being a geek) and "Online Campaigns - General Discussion".

However, if you decide to bring it back, it is not a BHD to me.

We have the option to hide threads. Why not implement that for sidebars? Best of both worlds, I think.

So where is the product release section?

If you could add some 301 redirects from old paths to new paths, that would probably help a lot of users you don't even see. I just realized that all of my blog post links on https://pittsburghpfs.com are broken. It looks like the fix is to replace paizo.com/paizo/blog with paizo.com/community/blog (which makes more sense as a path name! I have no complaints there!) so it's pretty easy to fix on my end, but it's also one that most people won't make. You're going to lose a metric ton* of visitors unless you set up some sort of redirect to make sure people can still access old bookmarks. =/

As an aside, I am hugely in favor of the new design. Count me as one who thinks those sidebars really should go (although I did use recent posts in the right sidebar occasionally)--there are better ways to present that information.

I love the new, larger font size. Thank you!

Re: responsive design, even after this redesign paizo.com is not responsive--it looks like they've kept an awful lot of legacy code, including a lot of table-based layouts. That said, responsive design is almost universally a good thing. You simply may or may not like certain design decisions, but the simple idea of a site responding to the size of your screen doesn't lead to the design being broken. People deciding that mobile users don't need to see some features? That, sometimes, can be a problem... but that's a different beast entirely.

@CrystalSeas Thank you for the heads up! I've got it documented as a regression to pass along to our new frontend dev.

@Dragon78 you can find our upcoming releases here: paizo.com/paizo/releases

@Terminalmancer I've just finished putting that redirect in place actually. It may take a quick bit to stick, but should do the job.

In terms of responsiveness... we've baked some stuff in there, but you are right, it's not 100%. We have quite a number of elements of the site in need of serious rework to unravel all the tables we're using. In one of my past posts over the last few days I referred to this being an iterative process, and it absolutely is our plan going forward to update each "object" we serve.

Interesting. I saw a gorgeous forum navigation drop down while on a PC at work. But 90% of my forum browsing and computer time happens on my iPad.

Navigation (especially for those of us in mobile) is clunky. I was navigating to these forums through my own posts until I finally bookmarked this page:

I hope this link helps others.

I do love the look of the landing page. Overall it is much more modern and in keeping with other gaming sites. The line with current month releases, with the option to scroll back or forward one month is a great idea. The "featured" section is not auto scrolling for me on Chrome, but is a wonderful addition. I love having the art showcased in this way and it keeps the landing page fresh and dynamic.

The look of forum post pages still appears a little off to me. The font is bigger, but I feel the real issue as others stated is the width. The text wrap is working fine if I resize the window in desktop Chrome, but that also means keeping my Paizo tab open in a separate window instead of a different tab. A minor nitpick I know but just giving feedback. The width seems good for browsing through the thread titles, with the caveat of the font feeling a bit too large.

Forum browsing on my phone I feel is much better. The font still feels a little big but the width is perfect. Browsing topic threads the width feels too small, but it also feels quicker.

Personally, I feel the biggest loss on the front page is the Blog. Paizo's blog feels much more interactive and widely read than many company sites I frequent. There are many elements I would not have noticed without the blog calling to me. The store blog has especially been useful of informing me of product you carry from other companies. The Paizo blog has been great for introducing me to new ideas and keeping me informed of what the company is up to. Something other gaming companies sorely lack. My suggestion would be to have the most recent store and Paizo blog posts in the "featured" scroll. EDIT: To add to my point, yesterday's blog post for PACG has zero responses after almost 22 hours.

Overall the site is running significantly faster and it feels like it takes less bandwidth. I am looking forward to see what other new features are in the works once the roll out issues are finished. Great work!

I agree. One shouldn't have to go hunting for the blogs, especially when they advertise new releases, announce sales, and offer promo codes.

What menu?

When I click on Store, I end up here, which has the top Store Blog entry. Immediately below the blog post is a More Store Blog link.

I'll agree it's not optimal, but it's there.

Topmost line, above the one with the account/cart/help items.

That's actually an interesting point.

In the past, I'd usually just browse to Paizo's front page, glance to see if there was anything interesting to me, then move on to the forums. Obviously when I was looking to shop my habits would be different.

With the redesign I've been intending to just bookmark the forums and only visit the rest of the site when shopping.

Your comment brings to mind that Paizo just lost my eyes, for marketing purposes. The blog was interesting enough often enough that I actually went into marketingville when I wasn't shopping. Which says a LOT, given I'm philosophically opposed to advertising. If I want a product, I'll come looking for it. Don't market to me before then. But the blog slipped under my radar, being valuable to me.

Wait, I think I might see. From the forums, there's a "Store" link that acts as thejeff described. On the home page, it opens up that dropdown with (apparently) no actual link to the store blog.

Paizo, why?

Pathfinder Adventure Path, Companion, Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber; Pathfinder Battles Case Subscriber

On my Chrome desktop browser... From the landing page the Store function is below the search bar and is a drop down menu with no blog entry listed as an option. None of the options take directly to the storefront page. From any other page (such as browsing this thread or store page), the store function is above the search bar and is a direct link to the store homefront including the blog built in. The store homefront (paizo.com/store) looks similar to but not exactly like the previous main Paizo page.

Ah. Much like there's no direct way from the front page to the forums.

If you go to any of the Store pages, you also get the "Store" link once you're there, but there's no way to get there directly.

I kind of see how it happened. It's nice to have the drop downs on the front page, so you can get deeper into the site without having to click through multiple pages, but that didn't leave any obvious place for a "Direct to the top of this section" link.

While I don't post on the forums all that often I do tend to view them regularly if work isn't overwhelming during the week. So it was very jarring to discover the new website after being away from a computer for almost a week. I'm not sure I'm a fan. It looks sleeker, but I miss my sidebars where I could see what was trending. I LOVE the monthly release ticker. I do feel I somehow missed the Companion line going bimonthly and I can't find the announcement. Overall I want to give it some time to see how I feel about the redesign but I'm currently in the not a fan camp.

If your workplace decency filters haven't already melted down with my weekly dose of wit and whimsy, then they should be fine with the level of sexy going forward. I hear there's still a cap on the number of puns we're allowed to put in blogs, so they shouldn't ever get to be too much for the office.
