Advice

I'm fiddling with the idea of a catfolk swashbuckler (gymnast). Str and Dex 16 as far as this theorizing goes.

I'm also wondering what to equip her with, and while a buckler and claws looks like a good idea, I'm also thinking of whether a gauntlet would be a good idea. Access to Duelling Parry (she has a weapon), she can still wrestle ... are there any downsides to a kitty with boxing glove(s)? (And would she still have use of the catfolk claws for the extra damage die?)

Both natural unarmed attacks and a gauntlet are treated as Free Hand equipment. Which means that you can only wield one of them per hand at a time.

You could use a buckler and reflavor it as reinforced arm bracers that you can block attacks with. Also one gauntlet and one empty clawed hand would work. Either would have the same circumstance bonus, but with different feats - Dueling Parry vs Buckler Expertise. Though the buckler path does mean you could eventually get shield block too, though that would cost another feat. And shield blocking with a buckler does not do very much...

It makes broken bucklers. I just saw some of the other options for the weapon-and-free hand thing and wondered about that.

I do like the reskin idea a lot. Especially since for magic she'd just use handwraps (and use those for her grappling). Does mean no Impaling Finisher though.
