trying to blackmail Al Capone need suggestions

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

so i am playing in a noir supernatural campaign set in 1942 my character accidentally interrupted Al Capone while he was having a discussion (bad plan in hindsight) i woke up the next morning to a bucket full of fish heads at my door step. so playing the character i am playing (Alan a 5 level psychic/medium gestalt) Alan would want to show that he is not some one to mess with. my plan so far is to get Al Capone into a warehouse to meet Alan then Alan (showing off his occult prowess ((trying to think how i can show off))maybe telling him where loved ones are) i also plan to have a trap that will go off and kill us both if i die any thoughts on how i can show him up/ make sure he does not kill me.

No suggestions, but it sounds like a fun game!

Good luck!

Obviously this is an alternate reality you're playing in...but how alternate is the history?

Do you realize that by 1942, Capone was not only long-since out of organized crime, but slowly dying from advanced neurosyphilis? He wouldn't have been in any condition to fight by that point...and likely not even to leave his care facility.

did not realise this but the history is alternate but not buy much just the existence of supernatural creatures and apparently Al Capone not dying from neurosyphilis

There's also still the matter of his having been apprehended by the law 10 years prior to consider. Does he still need to be an archcriminal? 1942 was arguably the bleakest-looking hour in the arc of World War II (it was the year Casablanca came out, which is part of what makes it such a powerful movie) - quite a different zeitgeist from the Golden Age of Gangsterdom.

well for this games sake he is still well and active in crime

Okay, well then! One question might be: In this timeline, was he ever apprehended?

If so, for how long, and how did his criminal kingdom fare in his absence? Did he need to rebuild it from scratch after getting out? Did he leave it to stewards, or did someone else seize the moment to fill his seat? Either way, that would mean he'd have gained some very serious rivals you could try working with.

If he hadn't been apprehended, how has business been? Has it grown, shrunk, stagnated, or achieved a sustainable plateau?

Thing is, in order for people here to help you, it would help to know more about this very divergent world.

Has he been dealing with the Axis any? Contrariwise, has he decided to go the way of The Joker and prove to be a patriotic archcriminal? The answer to that would make a HUUUGE difference in how Uncle Sam feels about him (and you). In this timeline, Al Capone and his network of distillers, brothels, and soup kitchens may have grown into a linchpin in the management of a large portion of the United States, and threatening him may be tantamount to wartime treason!

i like the idea of working with his rivals we have a character with mob connections and i really don't know a lot of how we are dealing with al capone but what i have got so far is try to intimidate/bluff/diplomacy him off my back but i need a plausible way to instinctive fear or make him look at me like a force to be reckoned with. the character i am playing is a party face character who is working to become famous/ back in power

Well, like I said: 1942 was the deep end of World War II. The best possible way for anyone to look like someone not to mess with is to have the backing of and/or influence with one or more of the major world powers.

Truth be told, though, you're trying the "make people leave me along by making them too scared to touch me" strategy on literally one of the worst possible choices of anyone in history to try that on; that was specifically his spiel. You might want to consider a different approach. Mind you, beating him at his own game would be a very "PC" feat, and not impossible at all, but given how it sounds like you just stumbled into this, it may or may not be worth it.

yeah i am thinking of just leaving it be and when it comes i can just be prepared
