1 person marked this as a favorite.

What does everyone think the crew of the "Vox Machina" would look like? Obviously, the two systems used don't match perfectly, but it could be fun to design a starship crew based on the team.

Some of my ideas would be:

Vax'ildan- Operative with ghost specialization and a haste circuit implant and multiple weapon feat not sure how to add the paladin aspect maybe solarian with a darkness mote and the as of yet unseen divine champion archetype.

Vex'ahlia- possibly a drone mechanic with her trusty combat droid trn-kit and definitely the feats to use the bow and arrow. maybe some levels of operative later.

Percival- exo-cortex mechanic who has taken the feats to wield a sniper rifle maybe some later levels of technomancer to replace the hex ability.

Scanlan- Envoy/Mystic not sure which path. would have the profession street musician and be a feychild gnome.

Pike-Priest theme Healer mystic and armor manifestation solarian to have the golden light of saranrae and melee weapons. bleachling gnome.

Keyleth- xenodruid mystic

Grog- maybe soldier(blitz) or solarian(weapon?) he seems to be the hardest for me.

I've only seen the first couple of episodes from the 1st season of Critical Roll. I've only really gotten into it now with the new campaign. Just felt weird jumping in at the middle like the first one did.

But I think a Blitz Soldier would fit Grog fairly well. Or possibly even a Bombard. That way he could use really big guns and add his strength bonus. And who doesn't love grenades?

Maybe even multiclass Blitz and Bombard Soldier? Would that be a thing?

Personally I was trying to avoid having Grog shoot guns because I thought it would be truer to the character. But thats why I opened this thread up, for the discussion.

Also if he only took soldier he would be able take a secondary fighting style but only after about nine levels I believe.

Fun little topic. Some initial ideas:

Vax is definitely a Ghost Operative with the Outlaw theme, no question. Multiclassed as an Arcane Assailant Soldier and a Xenodruid. The Starfinder version of him would wind up in retirement as an undead on Eox.

Vex is a Spacefarer Operative with the Explorer specialization and levels in Envoy. She's the team pilot and their starship is of course named the Trinket, much to Scanlan's distaste.

Percival could actually quite "easily" be ported over as an actual Gunslinger using Pathfinder legacy rules and a little elbow grease (someone would have to dig up his Pathfinder stats and work forward from them). Otherwise I figure he's an Exocortex Mechanic -- I like to think his exocortex would have the voice of Taryon Darington -- with levels in Sharpshoot Soldier and the Scholar theme. He's the Engineer.

Grog is a Blitz Soldier through and through, and the team's Gunner aboard ship. I like to think he would work pretty well as a Vesk; even the name kinda fits.

Pike is Priest of Sarenrae and a Mystic, no question; giving her some levels in Solarian is kind of cool but maybe not necessary.

Scanlan could be a multi-classed Envoy and Overlord Mystic, and definitely an Outlaw. He'd have a darker flavour than the Vox Machina character, if that's even possible.

Keyleth is a Xenodruid with the Xenoseeker Theme and she's the team's Captain, despite having consistently terrible judgement. ;)

Interesting take, though if they were to keep the same stats then Keyleth would be a horrible captain since she has no charisma. Also I feel that trinket would have to be something that followed Vex around since a ship might be a tad too abstract to represent her favorite companion. Besides I thought it might be fun to make Keyleth the pilot and make their ship one of the living ships of the Xenowardens to represent how they always used her transport via plants ability.

Or their ship could be the Rainbow Explorer, in parallel to the He-Man reference with the original team's base at Grayskull. :D

Actually if Pike had levels in Solarian, she might be a good choice for Captain.

Thread necro but with the addition of COM it makes for some new choices to make. Also, decided to focus on the characters as we first meet them and not any of there upper level changes:

Keyleth: Xenodruid mystic of course.

VAx'ildan: stays a operative but the specific choices may have changed.

Pike: mystic maybe a healer with a soldier dip or a crusader taking heavy armor and shield proficiency.

Grog: easily a wrathful warrior soldier. THought it might be good to make him a gravity dweller human with the adopted racial trait (stone giants)

Percy: royal scion themed Experimantal weapon (long arm) Mechanic with also taking sniper proficiency.

Now for the interesting bits.

Scanlan: with the addition of a charisma caster witchwarper we can use this for scanlan, but i think it might be more thematic to make scanlan a magical expertise envoy with the spell gem improvisation.

Vex'ahlia: could stay an operative with stunt and strike instead of trick attack, but there is the new hunter soldier style and soldiers can use dex, both with a bow of course. The real fun question is does she have the creature companion feat chain or is she a skyfire centurion with an uplifted bear friend nicknamed trinket?
