DM Greaek's 5e Princes of the Apocalypse

Recruitment

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We begin in the town of Red Larch, a small hamlet where not much goes on... or that is what most think.

I would be interested in GMing a 5e game (I would be able to provide online rules if anyone is interested), Main classes+UA Classes (Replacing PHB with unearthed arcana Ranger)

For Character Creation You may use whatever method you want for generating ability scores, and if you want to play a third party sub/class or background than send it to me and i might clear it

Hey there DM Greaek! I'm DMing my own 5th edition game in real life so it'd be awesome to get into a game of it. I hope you don't mind if I ask a few questions?

1) Are you looking to run the game here via PbP? Discord? Skype? Roll20? Telepathy?

2) What is the style of your DMing? Are you about the narrative? Highly dangerous encounters? Just so we can be all on the same page and all.

3) What are you looking for from your players? What are you hoping to find with the characters you'll select?

I'll stick to the 27 point buy. I find it fun for the DM to have characters that have weaknesses and it allows characters to be decent at the things that they want to be good at.

Hi KingHotTrash
1. Telepathy is my preferred source, but it has been brought to my attention that some mortals do not possess such a menial power, so I will be running this PbP via Paizo
2. I always appreciate a high danger encounter, but i also enjoy narrative and this is one of Wizard's pre-written adventures so it is whatever the decided fits
3. I am looking for good roleplayers mostly, I also enjoy the tactical aspect of combat occasionally (One of the reasons i was one of the few who enjoyed 4th edition)
The 27 Point buy is good, i have started three games lately and you are the only one who decided to use point buy, which is a good stat array especially with triton paladins or half-elves

I am in a couple of your other games I am taking stabs at all the 5e I can right now sooo. I will have to come up with something for this.

I'm a grognard to an extent so I like my rolls.

4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 2, 5) = 16=14
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 1) = 16=15
4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 2, 5) = 13=11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 2, 5) = 16=14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 3, 3, 2) = 9=8
4d6 ⇒ (5, 4, 3, 1) = 13=12

Not so bad I will come up with something new (assuming Whispers survives his current battle in another world otherwise he might get reincarnated).

Would you be alright with a new guy? It's my first time on this forum, but I have experience with fifth edition, and with play by post. (Would love to get into it for the long haul)

I'm looking to play a spellcaster of some sort.

Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 6) = 19
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 2, 6, 2) = 14
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 6, 4, 1) = 15
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 5, 1) = 8
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (6, 2, 5, 4) = 17
Stats: 4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 4, 2) = 15

All these are good

Sweet! I'll get cracking on a application.

Ideally looking for one more person, but two would work

I have a character in mind, and wrote a background for him. He turned out a monk, if that’s alright:

Oswald:

Oswald grew up in Baldurs Gate. He had a pretty good childhood and when he was of age, he joined the army. After serving for five years he came back home and took up a job as city guard.
He was sharp and not easily fooled, he could see things for what they were and his potential was soon recognized. He became a junior investigator and made his mark after two years. He uncovered a smuggling operation, human trafficking. The investigation revealed possible ties to a powerful noble in the city.
Oswald was kindly told to leave it alone. His superiors took over the case and put him on the next. Oswald wasn’t happy with the notion of the rich and powerful getting away with such nasty business, so he blew it wide open.

The noble in question was arrested, but after a long trial released. Oswald’s superiors were not amused and made sure Oswald got framed for the crime instead.
He fled the city and made his way to Waterdeep.

Oswald now roams the streets. A hobo, joining the evening fires with the other poor and downtrodden. He makes a couple of coins sometimes in backalley bare-knuckle matches, but drinks it away just as fast.

His lifestyle is obvious from looking at him. He’s dirty, usually busted up somehow in the face. Cuts and bruises. He’s wearing fingerless gloves and his chin hasn’t seen a razor in years.

That looks good

Dark Archive

any opening?

in case there is a vacancy

Spoiler:

4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 5) = 18 17
4d6 ⇒ (3, 1, 2, 4) = 10 9
4d6 ⇒ (3, 2, 1, 5) = 11 10
4d6 ⇒ (6, 5, 5, 3) = 19 16
4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 2, 6) = 14 12
4d6 ⇒ (1, 1, 2, 5) = 9 8

One remaining opening so yes

I’ve also made a character sheet, and a ‘alias’..

Ok

Incoming Gnome Wizard

Not much of an alt. Profile to be made lol

Dark Archive

would a low-intelligence, low charisma cleric survive this adventure?

Yes

Dark Archive

forward then says the unschooled, foul-mouthed wise cleric of Torm.

Ok! sounds fun.

And would you guys rather play this, or Either Curse of Strahd or Hoard of the Dragon Queen

Hmmm. . ..

All sound fun.

I created this character's backstory for PotA. But things could switch.

This is Gnomezrule's Wizard.

OK

Dark Archive

curse of strahd also sound cool ;-)

They are all pretty good. I would enjoy running curse of strahd, but no preferences

Well this party died.

That’s disappointing :(
