how do i describe the impossible leap deed of the courser swashbuckler archetype, specifically the use of which that lets you change direction mid jump, in a way that makes sense that a chasing monk wouldn't be able to follow.

well, the swashbuckler in question could be swinging on a rope (or have the appearance of) and when expected to move forward in a continuous motion, pulls off some Jack Sparrow pirate escape stuff.

Again, it only needs to "appear" that they're swinging on a rope, or a branch, or a vine.

Don't try to have it make any sense. Describe it in a way that violates the known laws of physics, then have the players make a Wisdom check or take 1d3 points of subdual damage as their sanity falters with their inability to comprehend what they just saw.
