Shadow Eidolon for unchained summoner

Rules Questions

Scarab Sages

I am unsure as to what evolutions the shadow eidolon from "Blood of Shadows" can take. Can they take poison or anything else that is restricted? Or are shadow eidolons limited to the barest bones of evolutions?

Scarab Sages

As far as I can tell, under RAW, if an evolution lists subtype requirements and the shadow subtype isn't in the list it can't take it. I don't have the actual book, so I don't know if there might have been a paragraph giving a list of evolutions to which the shadow subtype would be added.

There are several natural attack evolutions that meet that description, thus being off-limits to shadow eidolons. Seems weird, though, so there's definitely a reasonable house rule for your DM to make there.

Yeah. That's what I thought. I just think it's odd they don't get anything special to them, like the shadow evolutions from the APG summoner. I was wondering if I was reading things incorrectly
