Midgard locations for Paizo adventure paths

I will be moving my campaign world for future campaigns from Golarion to Midgard, but I still want to use Paizo adventure paths in the campaign. Nuria Natal is a no-brainer for The Mummy's Mask, and some AP's don't transfer well due to their deep connections to Golarion lore (I'm thinking that Rise of the Runelords, Shattered Star, Return of the Runelords), and Midgard doesn't have an Asian-themed location to place Jade Regent.

With those exclusions in mind, where would you place the remaining AP's in Midgard?

You should pick up a copy of the Midgard Campaign settings to help you work out your various analogues. Midgard has everything Golarion has with the exception of the tech stuff in Numeria. It even has its own Dragon Empires.

Great question!

As an aside, you know about the new Midgard Player's Guide for the Pathfinder RPG, right? :)

Also, be sure you grab a copy of the Midgard Worldbook, the HUGE new, revised Midgard campaign setting book. It's system neutral and gives you everything you need to know about the Midgard setting! The Midgard Worldbook should be available some time in March if I'm not mistaken ...

OH! Regarding your "Midgard doesn't have an Asian-themed location" comment ... you miiiiight not be able to say that for very long ... uh oh, did I say that out loud?

2 people marked this as a favorite.

After these very useful comments (buy more books/do it yourself, nice one guys), I'm gonna try some:

Reign of Winter - Baba Yaga exists in Midgard, but Irrisen does not...it could be somewhere between Novogorod and Vidim or you could re-purpose one of those countries. Iobaria is somewhere in the wandering realm of Kariv or Khanate of Khazzaki. Taldor can be any Crossroads Kingdom (or wherever, basically that's not Northlands)

Kingmaker - I don't think there is an area in Midgard that completely matches River Kingdoms, but I would put them on northern end of Rothenian plains, between Morgau and Wormwood. Or edge of Tomierran Forest, towards Krakov and Morgau.

Carrion Crown - Morgau, duh.

Ironfang Invasion - anywhere between Seven Kingdoms,l they mirror Molthune/Nirmathas conflict very nicely.

Ruins of Azlant - Cassadega/Ankeshel, duh.

Iron Gods - tricky one, but I would probably pick a remote location, one that isn't steeped in midgardian politics. Somewhere in Southlands is a possibility.

Giantslayer - would put it in Northlands, which are giant heavy. Other regions just don't seem to fit.

Skull&Shackles - I would add the Shackles somewhere on the west coast of Southlands probably.

Strange Aeons - somewhere on the edges of Western Wastelands, probably in Allain.

Wrath of the Righteous - I would keep this one out of Midgard, although Demon Mountain could be good site if you want to make a demonic hole in reality.

Hell's Rebels/Hell's Vengeance - these are tricky, devil worshipers in Midgard are gnomes, but their society doesn't look like Cheliax at all. You could make a major rehaul of the AP's and instead of devils, work against/for the Dragon Empire. If I were to forcefully implant a realm like Cheliax I would put it in place where Melana is.

I'm not familiar in details with all the APs I listed, so I went with most basic locations, so if some travel heavily around, I could have missed the mark.
I got these for now, will think some more tomorrow.

I actually liked that Midgard didn't have its Asian equivalent, I pictured endless Russian forest all the way until it reaches the end-wall of the world that is Veles.

Thanks for the reply Marc, I am really loving the work on Midgard! I was not aware of the Midgard Player's Guide, thanks for the link! I am awaiting the release of the new World Guide with giddiness.

Did someone say Asian-themed Midgard areas? I may faint...

You know you can reply to the thread without being a smart ass. If the OP wants to learn about the setting - PICK UP THE BOOK. That's what we've all done at some point. It's an excellent book and setting at that and well worth investing in to help one's game.

Don't want to create or promote drama, but I already have the book. I agree that it's an excellent setting, which is why I want to get opinions on the topic.

I would love more suggestions on ideas for suitable Midgard locations for Paizo adventure paths.

The Abandoned Lands in the central Southlands could work for Iron Gods, if you repurposed the tech to be remnants of the titans' civilization.

@necromental thanks.

I've been running some of the Pathfinder modules in Midgard.
