No unique iconic cards on the latest figurines iconics box?

Pathfinder Adventure Card Game General Discussion

Just received the hunter deck and the latest figurines iconics box, was very disapointed not to find the usual unique beskope pacg card for the heroes in the box. Also there is only 5 instead of the usual 6 figurines.
Is this normal? Etienne

I second the questions about the iconics cards.

Yes, they decided to stop putting cards in those sets. Iconics may still get Owner cards, but in other ways.

Yep, unfortunately they said that there were logistical issues with getting the cards put into the minis' packaging.

Wow! I snoozed through that update. That's a bummer.

You can change "may" to "will." The Iconic Heroes VII and VIII minis sets include the six occult iconics plus the vigilante and the shifter. The Owner cards for the occult iconics are in the Occult Adventures Character Decks, and the Owner cards for the vigilante and the shifter will be in the Ultimate Intrigue deck and the Ultimate Wilderness deck, respectively.

Yep—we only had 10 iconic figures left to do for the last 2 sets. But these sets are also $5 less than those in the previous wave.

Ah ok, as I am a subscriber I guess I will eventually get all of them then. Still a bummer.

Yeah. I think most people in the ACG community were bummed. But keep in mind, it wasn't Paizo's decision. WizKids (who makes the miniature products) are the ones that decided the logistics weren't worth it. Vic mentioned he was trying to figure out other ways to do it. And as you saw, they eventually settled on including them as cards in the decks associated with those characters.

I'd always hoped that the inclusion of the cards increased the sales enough that WizKids would contemplate making boxed sets of minis for the non-iconic characters in PACG. But I guess the data skewed the other way.

I'm stilling buying them, but I know others (i.e. Calthaer) won't be. I'm still hoping deep down inside that some how minis for the non-iconics become available. I picked up all the minis in the Rusty Dragon Inn set that were ACG characters. And I've hunted down Arueshalae. And someone was kind enough to give me the goblin ones as a gift. I use cardboard pawns that I make when I don't have a mini, but I love the minis.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

I'm undecided. I bought box7 without realizing it. Haven't pulled the trigger on box 8 yet because of it. Before it was a no brainer.

The minis are nice, but as someone who currently only plays the ACG and doesn't have a passion for minis... the main thing I ever cared about were the promo cards.

Yeah. It definitely slowed my desire for it. The first 6 I bought the moment they were available. I waited a month on set 7. ACG is the only use I gave for the minis. I like accessorizing it enough that I'll pick them up, but it lowered the priority.

I really wonder how much sales will be impacted by the removal of the cards. WizKids seems to think it won't be significant enough to justify the cost of adding the cards.

I don't think anyone I know bought these sets only for the card game. I bought a couple sets on sale to split them (minis for the RPG, cards for the ACG) but most of the folks I know bought them for the RPG only and don't play the card game much if at all.

I bought a few sets just for the cards, and sold the minis on eBay.
For a couple sets, I bought the cards on eBay, from folks who just bought the sets for the minis.

Encouraging crossover is a cool idea, but some of us old dogs just don't take to it. :)

I totally bought them entirely for the ACG, but I do like using minis rather than token cards, so I may yet buy set 8. We'll see.
