Best California Cons to Play Pathfinder? (and maybe Call of Cthulhu)

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

I'm looking at DunDraCon in NorCal in February, but are there others I should consider?

Good timing. I'm the organizer for DunDraCon, and I'll be making the warhorn public in a few days. Glad to have you.

There are several conventions in the Bay Area. The largest are:
February: DunDraCon (San Ramon)
May: KublaCon (Burlingame)
Aug/Sept: Pacificon (Santa Clara)
November: Gobblecon (Burlingame)

There's also some cons up in Sacramento on occasion. In June there's Polycon down in San Luis Obispo, which normally gets 2 or 3 games.

There's probably games down south too, but I'm not familiar with them.

That's an extensive list, you beat me to it! I love going to DunDraCon and Pacificon when I can. There's also one up in the north-north California area, but I can't find or remember the name of it right now. Smaller one. Seen the flyers but never been able to attend. :/

Thank you for the info on the NorCal cons! Though I'm LA-based, I travel to SF frequently. That being said, if anyone has recommendations for SoCal, I'd be interested in those as well.

We have Strategicon down here in Los Angeles. They put on 3 cons a year: Orccon, GameX, and Gateway. Next one is in February 2018.

Looking at OrcCon, I don't see any Pathfinder or Call of Cthulhu. In your experience, are those played informally?

The three Strategicons have historically had Pathfinder Society at them every year that I've gone.

There are usually a few Pathfinder games at each con. You can check on Warhorn.net for what PFS games will be there.

Our three large NorCal cons (DunDraCon, KublaCon & PacifiCon) each run about 100 tables of PFS/SFS; GobbleCon is smaller (around 30 this year, but we expect it to continue to grow next year). There are other cons (Sacramento, Fresno, etc.) as well; I believe they are in the 30-50 table range, but that's just a guess - I don't have exact figures.

Very helpful comment. Thank you! I see now that there is lots of Pathfinder available at OrcCon.
