Ask him if he thinks all animals die at 0HP and if so why. </p>

<p>I've had pets with GMs who were somewhat hostile to pets (nowhere near as hostile as it sounds like this one may be) and it was a struggle to get them to do anything useful. A struggle that really wasn't worth the hassle. It made the game significantly less enjoyable for me even when I managed to convince the GM about the basics (for the record, I do not think that I'm anywhere even close to unreasonable in what I try and get my Animal Companions to do.
