For Magical Beast Shape: You might want to take a look at lesser bandersnatch,
Thrasfyr and Kokogiak. All nice huge combat options.

And Miasma Hydra ! 12 bites with poison, 12 breath weapons, fast healing... Oh my...

Thanks, I will check those out!

Miasma Hydra is listed under "unique monsters" so it's safer to say it isn't something you can turn into.

AVR - a long time up thread you asked why airwalk was rated well.

Most of the answer lies with TM's original rating. But secondly, airwalk allows you to fly with your *land* speed. Which can be buffed via things like haste, expeditious retreat etc.

Secondly - no turn radius.
Finally - can cast on mount, with defined rules interactions. Whereas rule interactions with other spells are subject to more table variance.

Overland flight on your mount =?

Hi thanks for writing such a superb guide, I was searching for a newer guide with different ideas and found just what I wanted in yours.
However, I think may have spotted an Error in Reach Warlock Build (#2)

You state 3rd Level: Feat: Eldritch Heritage (aberrant). Your eldritch heritage now gives you +5' reach and you can cast touch spells at range. With enlarge person and long arm, you can reach
targets 20 feet away.

However re-checking the Feat description Eldritch Herritage, you gain the first-level bloodline power for the selected bloodline which is Acidic Ray Aberrant.
Long Limbs is the 3rd level Aberrant bloodline power which you can get at 11th level with Improved Eldritch Heritage

I've updated my guide:

Glad it was useful!

Yeah, you're right. I'll take another think.

There's been a few new monsters released since v2.0. A roseling is a plant with ranged natural attacks for example, and there's a few others with the same. A fresh look thru the Polymorphamory guide might be an idea.

I’ll look at the new 1e publications, but don’t want to copy other guides more than I have.

Found a error I think, under your Master Transmogrifier Build #1 at 7th level you list Hammer the Gap, doesn't this require BAB +6?

You underestimate Carry Companion. The animal is of secondary importance.

Quote:
Any items that the creature wears (such as a harness or saddle) or carries (such as those stowed in saddlebags) are transformed along with the creature.

Put 4185 pounds of stuff on a yak then cast Carry Companion and it becomes small enough to fit in the palm of your hand. I'd say it makes Shrink Item and Ant Haul worse by comparison, but it actually gets really crazy if you combine the three of them. You can carry something weighing 37,440,000 pounds (18,720 tons) in your pocket with this spell if Shrink Item has the area for it.

edit: Clay Skin is also a good spell to look at. Lesser stoneskin on its own makes it worth a look, but no material component makes it even better.

Thanks for the pointers. I hadn't seen Clay Skin before. Nifty addition.

I'm not sure how useful a guide to 2nd Edition Transmutation will be until the system has matured enough to provide some options, but I intend to give it a go this Autumn.

Is this going away? I got a notification that it's being deleted when I opened it.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Nope. S'right where it always was.

The link on the first post of the guide goes elsewhere, to a deleted file. Fortunately Zenith's guide to the guides has the new link.
