Ranged Combat Expertise?

Rules Questions

I there a ranged version of Combat Expertise? preferably that counts as Combat Expertise for prerequisites?

No, there is not. You could always go with an archetype like the Lore Warden to bypass the requirements entirely, otherwise you're stuck picking up a useless prerequisite feat. It's not like melee builds appreciate Combat Expertise either, it's just one of those annoying prerequisite taxes.

huh, never realized it was melee only, then again, never used it for more than just a feat tax so figures I'd not catch that detail.

Ranged CE would actually be pretty nice for a gunslinger. Not that they need the help.

Take CE or one of the other fill-ins like Dirty Fighting, then Fight Defensively when making your ranged attacks. Consider three ranks in Acrobatics to make it a better trade off.

If you just want the AC: Fighting defensively is not restricted to melee attacks. While the trade (+2 AC for -4 AB) is not good by itself, it's available for free and can be boosted by Crane Style (needs Improved Unarmed Strike, but +2 to AB and +1 to AC), Osyluth Guile (needs level 8, but Cha to AC) and Cautious Fighter (halfling only, but +2 to AC). There are some more options about it, but most should be weaker than those three.

Otherwise, there are now several ways to bypass Combat Expertise, at least partially. A brawler doesn't need Int 13 for it, a swashbuckler can qualify with Cha 13, a ranger can pick it up with underhanded combat style and for improved combat maneuvers you can also use Dirty Fighting. Each of these options works also for feats that require Combat Expertise. There should be a few more ways out there.
